I came across this contraption at work, but do we know what its actually for?

It's obviously a pouring vessel of some nature.

But can anyone give more precise explanation of what it's official purpose is?

    Hi Mumsie, it is a jug for dispensing various liquids and the spring in the spout is a filter for teabags, ice or pieces of fruit.
    Can just see you using it for your next Pimms session.

    Oh how the aristocracy live.

    These novelties haven't reached the suburbs yet.

    I'll use it for my next bottle of Lightening white, see if it filters out the sulphites.

    It's a Scottish Whisky storage jar........ the wire is to stop the spiders getting in and drinking it all. I note it is minus the lid.
