its Saturday night and iv had a few jack daniels which probably hasn't helped my play but I just need to get this off my chest and I no I'll probably be trolled for writing this but I just don't care anymore.I just want to say I hate internet poker.i hate the way it makes me feel I hate the way it takes over my life I hate everything about it.When you visit a casino to play live its an occasion its a night out a thing to enjoy you get to talk to people to meet up with old friends.when you play on the internet your usually in a room by yourself to concentrate and your in effect just clicking a mouse with no one to talk to how boring is that. The reason im ranting is because im on the worst downswing of my life whatever I do just doesn't work I usually play mtt's and I get so close to the money then it happens the bad beat hits.Like I say iv had a couple of jack daniels but I had to write this post before I smash the computer. Thanks for listening let the trolling begin....

No need for trolling, the game isn’t for you, don’t play it. Doing something you hate that brings negative emotions repeatedly is only the result of addictions. I’d seriously recommend using the self exclude button. Invest your time in another hobby you’d enjoy.

    OR.

    Take a short break! Completely!

Decide how long and stick to it, no matter what, don’t come back early...14 days was my break when I was on a big downswing...

It was long enough for me to forget the hands and pots I chased, maybe the flops I called etc etc

Honestly, you’ll come back refreshed and with a bit more cash to start with at least!

Don’t know if u chat on tables?...we do and it’s fun alongside occasional wins

Glgl and hope to see you back sometime!

Not going to troll because what you've posted is concerning. Take a few days off.
(Go to: My account --> Gambling Safely --> Stop Betting, and pick either "Cool Off" or "Self Exclusion" if you want to exclude). I'd recommend forcing yourself to take this week and next weekend off at the very least.

In that time, think about whether online Poker is right for you. Some things to consider (you don't have to answer anything on here):

    1) You say that you 'hate the way it takes over your life' - Does this mean Poker is affecting your relationships? i.e. Are you playing too much and not spending as much time with partner/kids (if applicable) or friends?
    - Perhaps discuss the issue with people around you, and get support. Use the time you're self-excluded or 'cooling off' to find and do things you enjoy outside of Poker. Focus on those instead. Maybe plan to do something with friends/family next week (preferably something that won't be cancelled by Coronavirus).

    2) Are you in control of when you stop playing?
    - If no: This is what the cool off and self exclusion features are for. Again, if you have family/friends who can help you with this, speak to them about it.

    3) Is 'hating the way it makes you feel' limited to online Poker, or does it apply to other types of gambling? Does it apply to live Poker?
    - Identifying whether the issue is specific to online Poker is important when deciding which services to self-exclude from. In any case, I recommend removing yourself from all gambling until after next weekend. Force yourself to do something else for the weekend.

    4a) Are you losing money?
4b) If yes, are you losing more money than you can afford?

If yes to 4b), you need a longer self-exclusion on your account. This can't be reversed, and even when it's up, it still takes a phone call to Customer Care and a 24 hour delay (I think) to get access to your account again.

    ---

Probs some other things I haven't listed. Maybe some better suggestions/advice too idk.

OP, it really is a simple solution; stop playing online poker, or at least scale down your activity massively.

If you're unable to do that without going down the cooling off/self restriction route then that would suggest you have a bit of a problem.

Poker isn't going to disappear so if further down the line you feel you want to try again with online poker then it will always be there, but I don't understand the logic of people playing day in day out when they get zero enjoyment out of it (and sometimes zero money too)

I used to enjoy the game but basically knocked online poker on the head a couple of years ago as I was starting to dislike it and only play very sporadically now (had to check scope for when my last game was, 31st Dec, what a loser playing on NYE), but I still have an occasional dabble live as like you I feel it's much more fun.

I think there are a lot of people with an unhealthy obsession with online poker, completely forgetting there is a big wide world out there (though not at the moment!)
