    People forget that the Betting industry is held to higher standards than pretty much everyone else.

    Suppose you are a Lawyer, with a client who insists on suing everyone. Or a carpet supplier/fitter, who has a customer who wants carpets replaced before it is necessary. Or almost anyone, in fact. Did you check that the sales from your most profitable clients were brought on by addiction issues-no? Think you should be fined millions? Even though they were happy to pay up front, and never mentioned anything to you? Even if you could prove that you had various procedures in place to try and stop this?

    No other industry is routinely fined millions of pounds for taking money from customers.

    Don't get me wrong. There is a responsibility on the gambling industry. But there is also responsibility on lawmakers (how long has it taken to ban betting by credit card?), on families of problem gamblers, on the gambler himself. But only 1 group gets fined.

    Far too long. Credit cards and betting are a toxic combination.

    Had 3 credit cards in my life. That's 2 too many. Ok for an unexpected bill that you don't budget for. Not for feeding vices.
