Who won what on UKOPS Day 1. And some other stuff*

Morning.

With 12 MTT's to cover, today we will mainly be short on waffle & long on facts.

All things considered, now is most definitely not a time to gloat or boast about the numbers, but fair to say I'm not sure Sky Poker has ever seen a night like last night. The Mini, for example, is usually £2,000 but gets a change of clothes for UKOPS & became £5,000. It made £15,230.

In all, the 6 UKOPS events had total guarantees of £41,000, & prize pools amounted to £82,890. It was that kind of night, & included the £20,000 Main making £36,000.

In 14 years with Sky Poker I've seen lots of thick & thin - mainly thin - but never seen anything like last night. And I'd give my right arm to see things return to normal, as would everyone at Sky Poker. Strange times indeed.

If you plan to play tonight, good luck, but please keep one eye on that bankroll & don't be going silly.

    UKOPS 01 £4,000 Bounty Hunter (£9,360)

If there were a banker to win at least one UKOPS it would be appendicitis, & this lifts him to the 5th most profitable Sky Poker MTT-er in 2020 if Sharky is correct.

Runner-up 222ducks22 is presumably named after an American chap called Paul Magriel who I knew very well. Paul was at one time considered the best backgammon player & teacher on earth, & was a successful poker player too. Sadly, in his later years he became rather unwell, & in a way it was a relief that he passed away 2 years ago. He was the true epitome of a mad genius. Extraordinary man.

    UKOPS 02 £20,000 Bounty Hunter (£36,000)

A few days ago, the Sunday Major made £28,400, probably the biggest prize pool on Sky Poker in 2020, but last night eclipsed that & then some.

jambeyand took the honours. He has only played a handful of MTT's since the Xmas UKOPS, where he finished 4th in the £30,000 Main, which, incidentally, missed it's guarantee. A man for the big occasion then, & in horse race terms he's a Group horse.

What a wonderful thing to see Danny run 2nd & collect £3,300. That thread he has where he decided to coach 3 players shows a man with a truly wonderful heart. I'd love to be half the man he is.

3rd was lolufold - the real lolufold - and it was also great to see Adam collect £1,300 in 6th, though I'm sure Natalie had 50% of him.

    UKOPS 03 £5,000 Mini Bounty Hunter (£15,230)

I doubt there's ever before been a £15,000 Mini, nor will we ever see it again.

roddy28, who had a few cashes at the end of March (2nd in Sheriff & 5th in Quickdraw) took home the lion's share, £1,850. Oddly, Sharky makes no mention of it.

Very pleasing to see a deep run by NOSTRI, he's a breath of fresh air on the Forum. His direct style reminds me of EvilPingu.

richards09, who only returned last week after a 3 month break from MTT's here, booked the win.

Some familiar names in the Final, including gadgerno1, day4eire76 & Allan23. Nice one lads, well done.

    UKOPS 05 £5,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£8,500)

oioi, one of our own - so to speak - took this, well done mate. It was not his only win either, as we shall see.

Would have loved to watch him battling with railtard, those two take no prisoners.

Ambo played 5 of the 6 UKOPs, curiously swerving the £15,000 Monster Mini, & ran 4th here to turn a profit on the session.

Yesterday I tipped albania for a good UKOPS, & he just missed the Final.

I think everyone here will be delighted to see that Nick ran 9th, many of us were a little worried about him. Give him time he'll be back on the Forum when he's good & ready.

Turning now to non-UKOPS stuff, & was pleasing to see the new slim-line LARSON7 win a few £'s after losing so many lbs.

Team Moan It In had a subdued opening night in UKOPS, but miniman88 won a few bob here, & it was another Final for kapowblamz.

cabbaz, who had such an awesome night on Monday, was at it again, & now sits 6th - a spot above miniman - in Sharky's list of most profitable MTT-ers on Sky Poker this year.

    4th was B33CHY, who won Monday's Main for £3,300, with the in-form Alvez11 5th.

    Hi Tony,

Great words as always, and I'm sure you know we all love you for it, it brightens up these dark days. It's no surprise really that the cash usually spent out and about is driving the great prize funds, as there's not much else to do; and as long as everyone plays within their means there are no big losers. This unexpected windfall for Sky Poker could finance some charitable donations if the suits were looking to reward the community, I'm sure there a few close to your heart.

    Keep the puns coming.....

Agreed. The only event I saw with no sats (aipf) was the 11pm one - UKOPS6.
