There have been several posts, & PM's to me, asking or suggesting that in this dreadful time we are currently enduring together, Sky Poker should make donations or run charity tournaments etc.
I've not replied to them until now due to time constraints, but I want to explain the stance of the Business.
Over the course of a year, Sky Poker gets many requests to donate to various worthy charities. Poker of course is only a tiny part of SB&G as a whole, & across the whole business literally thousands of such requests are made each year.
So, 6 years ago, SB&G decided that rather than react to a scatter-gun approach, they would adopt a structured, organised approach to charity donations.
Since then, each year the process is the same. Charities that approach SB&G are whittled down to a short-list of 6 each year, all 6 then make a "charity pitch" .
That pitch is done live in Head Office at the so-called Roulette Wheel (the office meeting area) & streamed to ALL staff, so all the staff get the chance to see it.
Then, a vote is held by all staff, & the charity that gets most votes becomes the SB&G Charity of the Year.
There is a committee of charity organisers, who organise & co-ordinate a whole raft of fund-raising efforts - marathon runs, car boot sales, home made cake sales, personal challenges, staff sweepstakes etc and at the year end a huge Charity Ball. Staff also get occasional freebies from the Business, but in return are obliged to make a donation to the charity.
Both staff and the business contribute.
The 2019 Charity of the Year was Yorkshire Air Ambulance, & the amount donated by SBG & it's staff amounted to
£146,058.23.You can read about it
For 2020, the SBG Charity of the Year - voted for by the staff - is Macmillan Cancer Research.
I hope that helps explain how Sky Poker & it's immediate parent company does it bit for Charity.
On the Forum of course, there are always plenty of charity initiatives, & a considerable amount has been raised over the year. Hopefully that will continue.
I do hope all that makes sense. Essentially, Sky Poker are owned by a bookmaker, & as a trade they are not known for being overly charitable. However, the Group as a whole is run by decent people, & I think they go over & above to support charity.

Interesting to hear how they choose the Charity to support for the Year..... and I for one, agree that the Group as a whole, comes across very well ...... especially for a Bookmaker and Gaming business
Though I know you can't please everyone, and the 'Tin Hat Brigade' would have had a 'Field Day' tonight if they had been on my tables...... just ask AAces @rspca12 and AAces @Loololollo
..... though Chris did get his own back
