1982 the year my football team won the European cup, UTV is up the villa. I wasnt even thought of let alone born in 1982 though. But a great bit of history for my Team Aston Villa. Any more villa fans here?

Yes, a few, @68Trebor is certainly one. Here's the latest page of his Diary. Guess I should have known what UTV stood for.

I think @Duesenberg is, and I can safely say he probably was around in 1982 to see the game

Fairly sure on his twitch stream he said he went to the game as part of his 40th birthday present.

Apologies in advance for the temporary derail of the thread. But I remember that season like it was yesterday.
I'm a Spurs fan. Always will be. But I have always had a soft spot for Villa.
The first thing to mention was that Villa had a fairly easy path to the Final. Only had to beat 4 teams. Valur from Iceland. An East German team. Dynamo Kiev and Anderlecht-decent teams, but not the hardest draw.
Then we come to the Final. Bayern Munich. A great team, then as now. For me, 4 world class players in that team. Augenthaler-a centre half 20 years ahead of his time. and the 3 top scorers in the competition that year:-Hoeness, Breitner and Rumenigge.
World class players in that Villa team? None. Cowans was the best. Shaw (the only Birmingham-born player in the squad) had great potential, but a knee injury in 1983 scuppered that. 3 players summed up Villa for me then. The centre halves (Evans, Mc Naught) and the Centre Forward (Withe). All 3 were fairly limited players. Who would give absolutely everything for the cause. The type of player every fan loves.
So-Villa up against it. Worse was to come-after 9 minutes Villa's keeper (Rimmer) had to come off. On comes the sub keeper-Spink. a player signed from the mighty, er, Chelmsford City. Making his 2nd ever senior appearance.
The game itself? Spell-binding. Almost all Bayern, sometimes like 3 and in. But the defence, and particularly, Spink, were inspired that day. And when Withe scuffed that fluky goal, I cheered. And unlikely history was made.
Plenty of so-called "big" clubs-like Man city, Spurs, Arsenal-have never won it. But Villa have.

Hi @CraigSG1
Nothing to that effect has been announced yet Craig.
@Sky_SamT
Well Sky Bet quoted 2/5, so I've filled my boots.
That's an unusual alias mate, what made you choose that if that's not too personal a question?

If I knew how to post a picture on here , I would have one of Montgomery Burns.
@pompeynic
That was exactly the picture and comment.
Thanks @Tikay10
I would have bet a lot of money that that was EXACTLY what you had in mind. I'm a bit of a fan of Mr Burns.

Is that something people will be interested in if it happens?
