** A REGIONAL CUP? **

Hi guys.

Building on the momentum of the "Heads Up Cup" for THE MOVEMENT CENTRE.

I had an idea to have a "REGIONAL TEAM CUP" competition.

This is the idea:

We split the UK into 8 teams.

I was thinking along the line of:

IRELAND
SCOTLAND
WALES
LONDON
SOUTHERN COUNTIES
EAST OF ENGLAND
THE MIDLANDS
THE NORTH

People can play for whoever they feel the most affinity with, place of birth, current location etc, as long as we can get the numbers to balance. Was thinking about 3 players per team.

We'd then have quarter finals where everyone in one team plays everyone in the other team, best of three, totalling 9 matches. The team that reaches 5 wins then would progress to the semi final and so on, until the final.

So I just thought I would put this out there to see if there is any interest? Donation to THE MOVEMENT CENTRE would be COMPLETELY OPTIONAL as I appreciate people have donated so much all ready.

What do you think? Fancy it, some time after the Heads Up Cup is completed?

I am just throwing this out there, to get an idea of numbers and what teams people would want to represent. We can use different "boundaries" if we need to, to get the numbers to work. If necessary splitting up North West and North East for example. As long as we still end up with 8 teams. Maybe "CORNWALL AND DEVON" would like their own SOUTH WEST team?

Let me know if interested and which geographical area you'd like to represent.

All the best.

Good idea mate, I’d certainly join if I have the time available. Has there ever been a completion run across cash, sng and mtt format? If there has then did it work? And if it hasn’t been done then do you think it would work?

Not wanting to tread on your toes but In my head I think it’s something that could work well, especially in team format. And it can obviously be run at min stakes to stay inclusive

Hi @jordz16 thanks for the input.

We've never tried that, could be a good idea, how would you envisage it working?

Well for cash you could have 1 member of each team at a table (if the 10 seaters still run) play for say 60-90 mins and points staggered based on the profit/loss over that period. SNGs could just be done the same way as you have ran previous heads up tournaments, MTTs would have to be a last longer structure where all team members could enter a certain tournament and points would be based on the longest lasting team member, or I guess you could stage it over 5-10 MTTs and just do a point for a cash and then staggered points dependant on finishing positions. I guess it would all depend on the numbers involved as for what it’s best, you could have a designated team member for each format or if there’s enough numbers then multiple members.

It would be the type of thing that would interest me personally but I understand everyone has different tastes.

Thanks for the idea @jordz16 I will have a think about it, what do other's think?

With the SNGs it might be difficult making sure someone doesn't jump in, and having players in the same team on the same table could be tricky.

The MTT one is doable for sure.
