Who won what on Saturday 9th May (Excludes Mini UKOPS)

Morning.

I've overlaid again this morning, so today's report will be mostly word-less. Always looking for ways to improve, me. The important thing is the actual results of course & they are all present & correct. Mini UKOPS ends tonight too, so that will ease the workload. Oh, & whilst I'm wheeling out the excuses, if I owe you a reply to a PM, please be patient, I have a shed-load I've yet to reply to. I'm usually very prompt with these things, but right now I'm all over the shop.

Whilst Prize Pools exceeded guarantees by 18% last night, every one of the featured MTT's was down week on week. It was certainly the quietest Saturday for 3 weeks, & in fact might have been the quietest since the lockdown started. We can all speculate why that might be, but I suspect folks are just becoming pokered out, as well as lockdowned out. This downward trend is, judging by anecdotal evidence I've seen, not confined to Sky Poker, it seems much the same for all the online poker sites. The boomlet is not over, far from it, but it's certainly passed it's peak & it won't be scaling those heights ever again imo.

    £15,000 Sharpshooter Main (£16,110)

Think we have to find some words for this one, which was last night's Main.

The top two operate at very different stake levels, but both are highly respected & liked here, & both are consistently helpful to those seeking a little help with their game. Exactly the sort of players this Forum needs. Not sure they achieved 1st & 2nd thanks to karma, but I bet it helped. Well done lads.

Karma? A while back, at an SPT in Brighton, play ended for the day on Saturday & it was a filthy wet night. As I drove away from the casino I spotted a young lad in a t-shirt, getting soaked to the skin. It was Groggy, so I stopped the car & told him to hop in, & I'd drive him back to his hotel. His hotel was just 5 minutes away, but it took us 45 minutes, as Groggy had forgotten where it was. No matter, these are the things we do for our friends. The next day - Day 2 - & for once I'm properly caked up & have a mountain of chips, 50 or 60 Bigs, unheard of for me, & it's bubble time. Groggs comes to my table, he has an even bigger stack, & is moving all-in every hand. I find the Kings, & I'm thinking "go on my Son, do it again, I double dare you to move all-in". That'd be proper Karma, right? Well he did exactly that with 8-8, I could not be happier & promptly & gleefully accommodated him. Once the dealer fanned out the 5-6-7 flop, I knew it was going to be GG me, & so it proved. Karma sucks.

I have to make mention of this win by mkgunner. He's approaching 70,000 MTT's here, & has around 15 or 16 of those lovely shining Sharky stars against his name, split evenly between "Profit" & "Count". 70,000 MTT's is not a record by any means but clearly upper quartile. His first MTT here was May 6th, 2008, some 12 years ago, & he's been profitable from the very start. Big up to the man.

Final hand wasn't fun for Mike. Both all in with AJ suited and Groggy hit a flush! Cruel way to lose.

    Thanks Matt :D

Wouldn’t be my choice to play HU vs Groggy for north of 1k, and a nasty way to finish since we both had very similar stacks at the time. Would have been my biggest score had the deck sprayed red instead of black, but I was reminded that I had little over 1bb when down to 5 players so very little to complain about. Some fun ICM spots ensued, sure it was a real crowd-pleasing FT particularly with the Groggs rail out in force.

    Gg, gg.

Well done @bbMike, PLO8 Mini UKOPS win and then only losing to Groggy because he runs like God, you would have had him otherwise obviously! A man of many talents.

Very unlucky heads up, brutal way to lose, one of those that even though you're delighted to win you feel a little bit dirty. Feels like I may owe you a few drinks at a future SPT for that one.

We could call it a draw and you ship me the difference? :D

Failing that I’ll take the drinks, thanks!
