Beauty & the Beast today, as we zip from the wonderfully rustic Bath Racecourse up to Wolverhampton, of which the less said the better.
1720 Bath, 1m 2f Handicap, 11 runners, Good to Firm, Firm in places
They don't have a watering system at Bath, so the ground can come up super fast & even hard at times, but the recent weather should ensure reasonable ground today.

This is Suzi Best, who trains Show of Force in the 5.20. She had 2 horses disqualified in 2018 for alleged cross contamination from shampoo of all things. Not sure everyone buys that story, as husband Jim Best lost his licence a few years back after it was found that he "stopped" two horses. Some of you with a suspicious nature might suspect Suzi holds the current licence but Jim really trains them. As if.
The likely favourite in the Bath race is trained by Roger Varian, who I admire greatly, and had had quite a life already. he rode work, & winners in the USA, & was a NH jockey in England, riding a few winners for Josh Gifford.
he initially succeeded Michael Jarvis at Kremlin House Stables, before taking over Clive Brittain's old yard, Carlburg Stables.
Lots of Group 1 winners on his CV, and of course a Classic, the St Leger, with Kingston Hill. Expect plenty more before he is done, as he's still a relatively young man.

Suzi Best just another Elaine Burke...as you say, just a name with the license while the banned hubby more than likely continues the training while they serve their ban...totally wrong but what can you do?
