Found this spot a little tricky to play as hand has marginal showdown but may turn into the nuts. Struggled to think through in real time and didn't have any reads on villain. Ended up clicking buttons. Anyone able to talk through this spot in a little more detail for me, especially in terms of putting villain on a range here and a potential better line?

Just wanted to say well done last night on taking down that 102 runner BH which started at 7.10pm, as well as final-tabling the £1,000 BH @ 7.30pm.
Quite an interesting hand so hopefully better players will be along shortly to comment
@Allan23 suggested line is good and perhaps it is the optimal line but I would imagine that the EV's would be very similar between the two lines as played.
We're supposed to do a lot of checking on monotone flops, particularly out of position and especially so vs big blind defence which has all sorts of weak flopped flushes in its range (this is more relevant when we open from early position vs big blind defend but it still applies here).
When we do decide to cbet rather than check-call (in this instance) it should be for the small size - 1/3 pot is ok but 1/4 pot is preferable. I think if you gave a solver 6 options on the flop the choices might be ranked: check > 1/4pot > 1/3pot > pot > 2/3pot > 1/2 pot.
Like the turn check-call. This turn is pretty neutral in that it doesn't improve either player very often (both have some A5 for turned straights) but it certainly doesn't improve any of our most likely bluff/semi-bluff combo's from the flop (unpaired high card hands with and without a heart). Getting called on the flop, seeing a turn that doesn't improve our range and also a turn that doesn't change the board texture dramatically often make checking the preferable option as the out of position player in these spots and with our particular combo in this instance it seems the clear choice.
River is interesting. I think check-raise-fold to shoves from opponent on this board pairing river is fine - his value range for shoving river consists of exactly 44 and 22 but I don't think it's a spot people ever really find bluffs. It may be better to just donk lead for a large size though as played (and still fold to shoves).
Do you x-c river if it bricks or a similar x-r line?

Thoughts now are...
Flop - Certainly could have checked flop. I guess the main reason I can think of to bet flop is that we fold out all of villains non heart hands that have pair outs such as Jc8c etc. Think this is one of the better outcomes of the small flop bet.
Turn - seems like everyone so far is in agreement on check/call. (Betting does build a pot though vs his one heart flush draws such as KhQx which are drawing very thin)
River - I think I now prefer leading the river (as long as we don't get too greedy). That way we get value every time and deny him the opportunity to check back a really weak flush.
Reasons I can think of for check raise.
- villain bets too thin for value.
- his better flushes probably only call our own river bet but always bet when checked to anyway.
- the check raise means we can get away on the rare occasion he does have a full house. Whereas if we lead we probably just have to call if he shoves.
SR23 - interesting point about bricking river. Feel like a 9 or 8 would be best card to call down on or a card like 3 of clubs. Would think about checking raising as bluff, especially with ace of hearts and if villains bet size didn't show much strength. Would depend a lot on his size.
