Who won what, Tuesday 4th August

Good morning.

A miserable night watching Brentford fail to win a play off final for the 10th time, enlivened by some terrific snooker matches at the World Championships in Sheffield. Context & perspective was provided by that ghastly explosion in Beirut. For all it's faults, we are blessed to live in such a wonderful country.

Meanwhile, back on topic, it was an OK night for Sky Poker, with 6 of the 8 covering, & only Mega Stack & Mid Ex missing by 2 & 6 entries respectively. Not great and not terrible, just sort of meh.*

*Yes, meh is a word, it's been in the OED for some 12 years now, not that any of you are bothered.

The smallest of the so-called Headline MTT's, but look at that for a seriously hot FT, with Lord Crush emerging on top of the pile.

    £8,000 Gold Rush (£8,310)

Richrash93 ran 2nd in Predator Main 6 weeks ago, but got his Main Event win last night.

Spare a thought for stocks09, this was the 2nd time he has been runner-up in Gold Rush in 3 weeks. Don't spare him too many thoughts though, he's won Turbo & Quickdraw recently, as well as making the FT of Avenger Main, so he's doing very nicely indeed.

The 604 runner Mini went the way of TONY509, who was 4th in the Sunday Major early last month. He's very much in the win big or go home category. He was headed for 2nd place until he leaped over Big_Frog, who returned to MTT's yesterday for the first time since late June.

The last mention I can find of the winner was last October when he was 4th in Summit. Looks like a drop in class did the trick last night.

What a remarkable uptick in fortunes for addo07. He was break-even for 5 years from 2008, & used to be a regular in the DTD games. Then he posted that he was quitting Sky Poker due to so many bad beats, & disappeared, until returning in 2018. Since the start of this year he has been playing with the Big Boys & his graph has gone vertical. Extraordinary stuff.

It's a similar story for the runner-up, fishhhhh, his stats have improved beyond recognition in the last 12 months.

If only the guy in 3rd had won, an epic headline was there for the taking.

weezy89 has been subdued since winning a £3,000 BH & a few nice FT's back in the Spring, but bounced back to form last night.

soldierCAB has been making a few FT's but generally having a tough time, this win repaired most of the damage. He had to fend off Melty & Dog Bloke to get his victory too, so a most impressive score.

For a £20 entry MTT, this was a toughie, with the top two both very much knowing the time of day.

Thank you for the kind words Tikay. I was previously a cash game player who dabbled in a few SNGs and a sprinkling of MTTs. I decided to move all my play to MTTs towards the end of last year and put some study time in to MTTs. So far so good!
