    That's still other peoples words.

You should be a poster boy for left wing liberalism politics.

    You'd drive Paxman insane.

Yes they can be pushed back. Australia has proven time and time again. Remember the standoff when they stopped the Vietnamese boat people from landing. The boat people claimed illness and hunger so the Authorities sent out Doctors and medicines and food and clothing then sent them back at gunboat point.

Drastic, yes. Anti humanitarian, definately. Morally wrong, certainly. Illegal no.

The problem is unless we show a very firm attitude then all we do is encourage the crossings.

The minute we allow carte blanche then every man and his dog will be rocking up which will be a right wingers wet dream, and the less ammo those morons get the better.

Maybe we could have some sort of screening / vetting system in place in France, something I think the French would be only too happy for us to have.

Genuine applicants could then cross in safety via a ferry / tunnel and be afforded a proper welcome and the assistance required to integrate into a multi cultural UK

This would effectively designate any "unauthorised" crossing as illegal entry and they can be turned around / sent back.

If they then wish to protest by jumping off ferries etc that is their right.

The problem is there is always a sob story, getting a balance is difficult but the first priority has to be the children, Women with children, families with children in that order.

As a Father and Grandfather, I would be happy knowing that my kids, Grandkids were safe even if I was still living in He11.

This is good lets keep the exchange of ideas going

I think that if we had an office in Calais.

Where applications for asylum were available.

A limited number of genuine applicants could be allowed in to the UK.

We would automatically disallow those that tried to enter illegally forever, and drop them back in Calais.

This would mean that you could choose the deserving cases, limit the number, and discourage crossings because those that were caught would be banned forever

If you just dropped them back in Calais they would soon get fed up, or run out of money, and not be able to pay the traffickers.

The Mail on Sunday says Home Secretary Priti Patel has sparked a diplomatic row with France - by claiming that migrants are crossing the Channel to escape a "racist country".

She is said to have made the comment in a private conference call with Conservative MPs.

According to the Mail, Ms Patel also said migrants feared they would be tortured if they returned to France.

However, the Mail says the comments have infuriated French MPs. One is quoted as calling them "hateful" and another as saying: "Madame Patel is not a politician who does much thinking."

Meanwhile, the Sunday Telegraph reports that a specialist Royal Navy team has been deployed to support the Border Force in curbing Channel crossings.

Home Office apologises for 'error' after Nigel Farage visited hotel in Priti Patel's constituency that is housing migrants
Home Office chiefs say 'error' meant migrants hosted in hotel in Witham, Essex
Bosses have now promised a 'full review' into how accommodation for migrants
It comes after Nigel Farage claimed Rivenhall Hotel was hosting asylum seekers
He claims Priti Patel's constituents 'are not happy,' with migrants staying at hotel
Former UKIP leader has described refugees coming to the UK as an 'invasion'
Mail on Sunday probe finds up to 50 hotels are being used to shelter refugees

The Brexit Party leader shared a video on Twitter in which he visits the £54-a-night Rivenhall Hotel in Witham, Essex, which is the Conservative MP's constituency.

He claims asylum seekers are being put-up at the three-star-rated hotel, which is fully booked until January next year, after crossing the English Channel from France

He is later told to leave the property, before the video cuts to the former MEP sitting down with a drink

After leaving the site, Mr Farage then tells the camera: 'Now we can see it (asylum seekers being given hotel accommodation) is now happening in leafy Essex, in Priti Patel, the Home Secretary's own constituency'

An investigation by The Mail on Sunday can reveal that at least 20 – and perhaps as many as 50 – hotels across Britain are being used to house migrants who have made the perilous crossing on small boats across the English Channel (pictured, people believed to be migrants outside the Royal Hotel in Hull city centre which is housing migrants)

Refugees preparing to cross the Channel are staying at a makeshift camp after French authorities carried out evictions at larger sites earlier this week.

I thought leavers wanted to take back control of our borders?

But no let's blame the French for not controlling their borders, and call them racist to boot.

Why is the Mail devoting so much time to this "invasion"?

Getting Farage to do their dirty work and stir up a blame the foreigners mindset and hiding the fact that the stuff we already had control of like health and education is a total sh*tshow right now.

Have we ever had control of our borders.
We apparently have around 1.5 million illegal immigrants already.

    We have to blame somebody.
Arent most countries concerned about those entering the country, rather than those that are leaving?

Migrant attacked only moments after landing on Kent beach

A migrant who crossed the English Channel in a rubber dinghy was attacked on a beach in Kent only minutes after arriving in the UK.

The young man in his 20s was assaulted by someone reportedly watching the small boat arrive at the village of Kingsdown, south of Deal, on Sunday.

Natalie Elphicke – the Conservative MP for Dover & Deal who has called for migrant boats to be “stopped and returned” – condemned the violence and warned against “vigilante behaviour”.

Immigration and family law barrister Andrew Powell condemned Ms Elphicke’s “appalling and dehumanising language”.

There is no lawful restriction against people choosing the country in which they want to seek asylum, and the people crossing the Channel are not committing any unlawful act in doing so, according to Christopher Desira, human rights and immigration solicitor at Seraphus law firm.

EU rejects UK plea to allow asylum seeker returns after Brexit

Britain is set to lose its power to send asylum seekers back to other EU countries after the Brexit transition period ends, throwing the government's immigration policy into disarray.

EU negotiators have reportedly rejected UK requests for a new agreement to replicate the Dublin Regulations, which bind EU member states to process certain asylum claims at the request of their neighbours.

The provision is used regularly by the UK to turn back refugees arriving on the south coast after travelling overland through France and other European countries.

Michel Barnier is expected to elaborate on the situation on Friday, which has moved into the spotlight after an up-tick in the number of dinghies landing on the Kent coast in recent months.

Tory MPs call for human rights laws to be abandoned to help stop flow of migrants crossing the Channel
Common Sense Group called for 'root and branch reform' of the asylum system
They urged the Prime Minister to ban asylum claims from another safe country
Group founder Sir John Hayes said the issue should be a 'national priority'

Britain must tear up human rights laws to halt the flow of migrants crossing the Channel, Tory MPs warned yesterday.

In a letter to Boris Johnson, the 40-strong Common Sense Group called for 'root and branch reform' of the asylum system to deter people from attempting the hazardous Channel crossing.

They urged the Prime Minister to ban asylum claims from migrants who travel to Britain from another safe country such as France.

Priti Patel abandons deportation flight after multiple last-minute legal challenges

Priti Patel was forced to abandon a deportation flight returning illegal Channel migrants to Spain on Thursday after human rights lawyers mounted last-minute legal actions.

Sources said the Home Office had been hit by so many last-minute legal claims that it had no option but to pull the flight, which would have returned 23 illegal migrants who had reached the UK on small boats from France.

It came as the Home Office was embroiled in a row with lawyers over a video it posted on attempts to remove migrants from the UK, in which it said current regulations are "allowing activist lawyers to delay and disrupt returns”.

Ms Patel, the Home Secretary, is planning to overhaul asylum laws which she has reportedly claimed are being “exploited by leftie Labour-supporting lawyers” who were doing everything to stop the Government removing people.
