Scary stuff. It looks like they're trying to end the life of the cash game pro but I think this will just be a big case of cronyism because there's a lot of varied interpretation involved. I mean they're not going to be booting any GG pros who win too much, are they?
They aren't mucking about either. If they think you don't fit their ecology they will straight up take your whole roll but give your deposit back in some cases.

My son put $20 in, registered for a tourney no table just a black screen could hear the dealer and the chip sound, contacted cc they asked for name, table number and what was the tournament, got an email next day,
That was 2 weeks ago, haven't heard from them since.

Yes, there's a huge thread on 2+2 about a German Pro who had something like $180,000 confiscated, though I believe the guy got his initial $50,000 deposit back eventually.

Can they do that? Well obviously they can as they have, but is it legal to do so?
I would expect the courts to be involved if you have $130,000 in legitimate winnings taken off you.

What do you mean by this bit?
They have a long list of ecology terms and conditions. A lot of them are open to interpretation, e.g. bumhunting. If they think you have had too much time at tables with fish relative to pros then you're classed as a bumhunter and they will literally take all your money and you will have to fight for your deposit back. We're not talking seating scripts or any of that ultra predatory stuff. Just a bit of bumhunting, which 99% of players do, and you're out and money gone.

He was banned from another gg network that was why his money was confiscated!

Pokerstars seemed to be the leader in making poker more for the recreational player. It looks like a casino site with poker tacked on sometimes and is too "bright and shiny" nowadays. Don't get me started on those stupid moving emoji things, they are childish to say the least.
There is a big market for standard gambling games so it can be good in a way for people using it as an income to play against weaker opposition if the standard class of gambler wishes to give poker a go.
In one sense it seems like a good thing for the pros and in another not so good. The case about the German Pro having their money confiscated seems quite astonishing on the surface. How can a poker site do this legally?
If the site notice a pro playing a set amount of hours or winning over a certain threshold per month while having T+Cs to say can't be a pro here then they can do this I guess.....
Will have a look at the 2+2 thread as it's bound to be fireworks

Are all these bans and confiscations only for cash players? Or are big winning MTTers at risk too?

It's never quite that straightforward, but yes, they took his $180,000. If you have 10 or 15 minutes to spare, here's the thread;

However, that might just be the UK version of GG Poker, & maybe they have different regulators in other jurisdictions.
They even banned a guy who won the leaderboard EVERY DAY. You'd have to be some monster of a bumhunter to pull that off.

Looks messy.
This little haven we have here is like poker nirvana in the current climate.
