Hello again fellow players.
For the past month or two since my previous challenges/blogs/diaries I have retreated back to my old self and became a lurker rather than a contributor of this excellent forum and only been playing poker sporadically without much care or thought - Mainly taking shots in MTTs above what my bankroll should allow. This undue care resulted in my play generally being atrociously bad and mega-tilty, and frustratingly busting BRs at spin up tables after losing sessions.
In the past, as mentioned in prior posts, my main focus in poker over the years (Pokerstars) has generally been SnGs with the odd MTT thrown in with the hopes of scoring a big win. Since finding my poker home here at SkyPoker I attempted, quite successfully for a while, playing the DYMs but after a while the grind got the better of me and I got pretty bored and tilty. The weeks since then I have discovered I seem to find MTTs far more enjoyable. They're not nearly as monotonous or such a slog that DYMs can become. Even just simply making a final table in a MTT gives you that kinda warm and fuzzy feeling inside. And with Sky Poker having smaller field sizes and by regularly playing with a lot of the same players should in theory be a great platform for my style of play to hopefully be profitable over the long term.
The few occasions in these last few weeks when my proper, non-tilty head has been screwed on, there has been some surprisingly moderate success from MTTs in the last week or two - especially in the last two evenings - and riding the confidence that success brought, I have decided to challenge myself again. Hence this new diary post to help keep myself motivated, focused, more determined, playing within my bankroll and the whole host of other positive reasons for doing so.
Unfortunately, I will be unable to play any MTT on the schedule before any evenings and due to work commitments will also be unable to play for the most part on Wednesdays and Fridays.
So, let us commence and let the fun begin...

I almost feel you've started this slightly too late - three nice Finals in the last 48 hours, Mid Ex twice, including a win, & 5th in the Main. Let's hope the hot streak continues.
I find these diaries very beneficial and without doing this I'd just be risking resorting to that dreaded care-free style of play, and probably quite quickly as well.
Your kind words are appreciated. Let's see how this goes, and I'm hopeful they'll be many top 3 finishes to report in the coming weeks and months.
I wish you the best in your challenge also. And even moreso in the SPT event that you did really well to win a seat to.
Will be following with interest.
Maybe not everyone's cup of tea, but these diary/blog posts really do help. I'd keep a keen eye on yours if you decide to do one.
Good luck!
It was a day of a couple of 'so close yet so fars'. I also achieved a hard feat. Busting first in not just one tournament, but TWO! That was rather disappointing. Any other day before starting this thread I would have played terribly and angry for the remainder of the night. The good news is I kept the cool and went on cash in 2 of the 11 tournaments I played - Final tabling both! And making a very small overall profit for the day.
Good start I reckon.
Onwards and upwards. Good luck at the tables
Such a so-so evening. Only 1 bounty collected in the mini.
Starting BR: £100
MTTs Played: 18
ITM: 2
Profit: -£11.99
Current BR: £88.01
Onwards and upwards. Good luck at the tables
As this was the first week, and only managed to play 2 and a half evenings, there's not a lot to report. The first day's play was quite pleasing, making 2 cashes which were both final tables, ending the day with a small overall profit. The next day's play on Saturday resulted in zero cashes with only 1 bounty prize. And yesterday, I gave up and unregistered for the remaining games as I took a few quick beats and became a little frustrated and started playing terribly. In hindsight, I shouldn't even have bothered playing yesterday, as I was just too tired.
Tonight is a brand new week so hoping for a more positive outcome this week. I have also decided to tweak the rules of my challenge slightly. That is, to allow me to play any event that qualifies for the MML (specifically the £5 buyins) regardless of bankroll. Obviously that slightly increases the risk of going busto, but with the limited selection of MTTs under £2, I feel the increase in number of tournaments allowed to play outweigh the added risk of playing a few higher buyins - especially so, because those £5 games are mainly Bounty Hunters which in theory should have smaller variance over the short term. If I go busto, so be it. But as it stands, I should have enough of a BR to last a week or so of playing the full nightly schedule, even if I fail to cash or win bounties at all.
Overall Progress
Starting BR: £100
Tournaments Played: 21
Staked: £41.05
Winnings: £25.21

Current BR: £86.46
Good luck at the tables!
