I first started watching it in the 90's when the panel included amongst others Best,Marsh,McLintock,Allen,Brazil,Mullery etc. Saturday mornings started with a big fry up then Soccer AM (Lovejoy & Chamberlain) followed by Soccer Saturday with beer & curry good old days, though I'm paying for it all now... .
Truth is, these guys did a great job back in the day, but their sell-by-date has long passed, though I'm not convinced Merson ever deserved to be on the show.
I think he would also qualify as a "dinosaur" as you call the others? Do you watch/subscribe to Sky Sports?
But Linekar is the host, is amiable enough and allows the pundits to do their (limited) thing. He only very occasionally gives his opinion.
But we all know exactly why you want Linekar gone.
The 3 dropped by Sky are well past their best and have been for many years so this is long overdue. The show and its concept badly needs new blood and faces as it's very tired.

I watch Sky Sports but don't subscribe.

Gary Lineker is a good presenter. There was talk of him being replaced by Jermaine Jenas and would make a good host as well.
As for the 3 that are away, I think it's at least partly the sign of the times and the show is going through a transitional phrase, like the world in a way. The show needs a makeover, I understand the calls for Merson to be added to the list.
Jeff Sterling has had a decent run too so not adverse to see him getting his jotters along with the Soccer Saturday 3.
Bit like Andy Gray and Mr "Gorilla Hands" (can't remember his name) when their time had come and they were stuck in the 90s.
While we are at it, can we get rid for Martin Tyler and Clive Tyldesley from the commentary booth too. Nothing against them really just new voices would be nice.
Quite like Alex Scott as a newer female pundit on Sky Sports, she makes good points and is enjoyable to listen to. Looks don't go against her either and it's never bad to have something nice to look at
So the new line up includes Paul Merson, Glen Johnson,Tim Sherwood,Clinton Morrison,Tony Pullis & Sue Smith and I thought B.T. had already scraped the bottom of the barrel with some of their choices.

The top rated comment in the Daily Mail article though. They are not buying this one bit
The only question is how on earth that useless crackhead Merson avoided the chop?

Best headline I've sen about this so far?
Sky Sports sack three Soccer Saturday pundits and Paul Merson isn't one of them

Some fresh blood can't be a bad thing.

Do enlighten "all" of us.
We all know exactly the type of person you are, and this is in direct contrast with the type of person Linekar is.
Maybe if Linekar had played right wing rather than centre forward, you wouldn't be so desperate for him to go.
As a fanboy you can't even spell his name correctly.

Useless pundit only there for the comedy value.
His comedy gaffes make up for his uselessness.
Daily Mail said so.
