Who won what, Monday 31st August

Morning.

Sad news overnight, it emerged that Mike Sexton is very ill. He's been a giant of the game for over 20 years, & as far as I know he's never been involved in anything dodgy in all that time which takes some doing in this game. He's always dressed well too, which makes him almost unique in poker. We can only hope he recovers quickly, he's a good man.

In lesser news, Poker traffic seemed very subdued with lots of overlay, Turbo & Mid Ex both missing by £300+. Main & Mini both did OK though, so there's that.

£1,000 BH £1,000

£8,000 Marksman Main £8,430

£2,000 Marksman Mini £2,090

£1,000 Mega £1,280

£2,500 Sheriff £2,500

£2,000 Turbo £2,000

£1,500 Quickdraw £1,500

£1,500 Mid Ex £1,500

    £8,000 Marksman Bounty Hunter (£8,430)

    The 1st, 3rd & 5th - lyonsbob, The Bates & goldnballz - have a combined 92,000 MTT's on Sky Poker between them, & I'd estimate they've won the best part of half a milly in total. We mortals can but dream.

    Runner-up debso8 has had three big cashes in recent months but can't find the win. 2nd in a £10,000 BH in June, 3rd in Hitman Main mid August, & now 2nd in Marksman Main. The big win must be due.

    shearer484, who I believe is a Newcastle United fan & popped up on the Forum this morning, was 6th after "running into traffic" on the FT. I've spent most of my poker time stuck in traffic.

    @lyonsbob06 1405000 1 £1116.97 + £392.59 Head Prizes 10

    @debso8 0 2 £665.97 + £179.12 Head Prizes 6

    @MattBates 0 3 £400.43 + £87.89 Head Prizes 5

    @sprazzer 0 4 £316.12 + £279.15 Head Prizes 14

    @goldnballz 0 5 £267.65 + £95.84 Head Prizes 4

    @shearer464 0 6 £223.40 + £73.52 Head Prizes 5

    £2,000 Mini Marksman (£2,090)

    This looks like a personal best by DOTUN19. Beast1905 was 2nd, & also 2nd in a small BH the previous night.

    3rd was act8556128, who has won the Mini three times in the last 9 months, & must have been a shade unlucky not to win it again last night after taking 19 head prizes.

    rockgod went out in 4th but he can handle beats.

    @DOTUN19 836000 1 £261.25 + £34.30 Head Prizes 6

    Ledmundos, just back after a 2 month hiatus, took this.

    NOSTRI has been on a mini downswing, but he excels in this Comp & bounced back to form with a podium finish, he was also 2nd of 92 in a fiver BH earlier in the evening.

    £2,000 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£2,000)

    A 2nd win in 24 hours for chrisdonkb, winning last night's Turbo plus a tenner BH on Sunday. Tough FT, with gaming123, Arrogant & Granite89 all present, so presumably he ran well. Ladbrokes have him at 33/1 for the Online SPT this weekend.

    @chrisdonkb 285000 1 £423.65 + £200.74 Head Prizes 6

    On this day.....

    WW11 began 1st September 1939. It must be true, as it was in the Derby Evening Telegraph.

    Met Mike Sexton several times.

    He really is a splendid person, as well as a very under-rated poker player.

    Mike Sexton will always be a legend and he'll be remembered. It appears he's doing in home hospice so it's just a matter of time and controlling the pain. It's prostate cancer so the twitterverse says. I've never had mine checked. Maybe I should....
