    they did the same with Stoke but after the 1st game in 2008 we obviously rammed it back down their throats when we finished mid table
    PP then bought every fan who attended the final home game an ice cream
    is it a good or bad marketing ploy ?

    It's good business.

    Assume you had staked £100 on Fulham being relegated.

    That £100 is "out of circulation" until the end of the season now. You can't lose it. They can't win it. They can't spend it as it's ring-fenced. It's dead money for 9 months.

    By paying out now, the money goes back into circulation, & you can lose it to them. Or win with it, but most of all, that £100 becomes active again. And that £100 can slosh backwards & forwards between you & the bookie many, many times, earning them money. Eventually, of course, you will lose it.

    At the start of the season it was a shade of odds against, 21/10, 11/10, that sort of region.

    Today it's mostly between 1/3 & 1/4.
