    I'm not a fan of the Honours system, but I'm pleased for Lord Botham, he's a quite extraordinary man, & leaving aside his immense achievements in cricket, he's helped raise tens of millions via his Charity Walks.

    One of the few that is well deserved, too many are just cronies of the PM.

    See, I'm all for recognising the achievements of great sportsmen and women along with those who do countless hours of unpaid voluntary work. Servicemen who perform acts of heroism that most of us would never in a million years contemplate also get a huge nod of appreciation.

    But why on earth should he be given a seat in the upper house of our LAW making system?
