Playing a £3 dym yesterday. It's level 3 and there are 5 left, myself and another player on about 3,500 and the other 3 much shorter.
I end up going to the river with a turned set of 10's on a str8 draw heavy board and check to the previously aggressive button who checks behind and shows the A high straight.
Now don't get me wrong I'm delighted he didn't bet as I would probably have called for up to half pot, but if I had been one of the other shorties I'd be a little miffed and somewhat puzzled.
I did actually point out ( politely) that checking the nuts when last to act was not entirely acceptable and actually punishable live, but the player did not respond so I assume either didn't understand or didn't care.
I fully appreciate that the player was probably new and or inexperienced and in the grand scheme of things its no biggie in a 3 quid dym. It's just that it stood out as something you don't see every day.

I am sure I sigh called the nuts when I first started when I thought the other person had just caught up on the river much to a couple of people's annoyance. From what I remember he was on a complete bluff, so would never have called anyway.
There can be many reasons and I'd just assume misread. If someone was really cheating would they let everyone know by checking behind?
I just thought it was an unusual occurance.
I myself checked the nuts when last to act in a cash game at Grosvenor Stoke about 10 years ago. The ensuing row ended with a much younger local straight out calling me a effing cheat.
Suffice to say the differing points of view were settled in the time honoured tradition. I went back inside and continued playing, after receiving a severe rollocking from the floor. He collected his chips a few days later.
It was a slightly brutal way to learn that checking the stone nuts when last to act was a no no. I honestly didn't know and did it simply because I was certain that the other player wasn't putting another chip in the middle.
You live, you learn.

Also, they most likely didn’t have chat on, And even if they did what response did you expect?
Did it really warrant a post by yourself?
Bit of a non issue.
Next caller please.
In a tight situation how long do you get? 10 seconds?
If you are multi tabling mistakes are made.
Everybody has had the time run out before playing or pressed check to be safe.
