A Road to Recovery

HotwhealsHotwheals Member Posts: 337
Hi all my name is Carl aka Hotwheals. I am a 33 year old wheelchair user hence the name and yes i know its spelt wrong but thats for another day haha. I thought i would start writing down my progress here as its something i use to do when i played here back in the day. I left poker behind about 3 years ago now due to losing interest after my good friend passed away off here Sparrowlegs from cancer and then by a cruel twist of fate i then got cancer myself 6 months later. So playing poker was almost impossible as with the surgery and therapy i had to have concentrating became almost impossible as i was constantly tired, but im all clear now and slowly but surely my energy levels are coming back so hence the reason i am back. Im gonna take it easy while i get back in the flow of things, im gonna play small heads up sit & gos and small mtts while i get use to things again although i did play one £21 heads up game to see what the standard was still like as that was the level i use to play and i did win so all good. I have played some of the UKOPS mini Mtts this week and have done well with a couple of deep runs including one final table, although it really was being thrown back in at the deep end being sat between two of Sky Pokers most successful Mtt players at the final table. As i said i play heads up holdem sit & gos and anything to do with Hi Lo as i love that game, so im sure you will come by me playing those Mtts or DYMS. Anyway thats enough about me, i will update you on how i go and i hope to see you all at the tables :)

    Great to have you back posting Carl. Welcome back.

    Even better that you got the all clear from that dreaded disease.

    I did see you on one of my tables the other night, and thought I had not seen you in awhile. Best of luck in getting back into the swing of it.

    Great to hear from you mate. After you finished 4th in Mini UKOPS 11 the other day I wrote;

    Delighted to see my virtual friend Hotwheals (4th) can still cut it, he's some special bloke.

    I was unaware you'd been very unwell, so it's all the more special to see you back. I used to dread/love sharing PLO8 Tables with you, you were huge fun & a perfect gent, but you so rarely made mistakes.

    Stick around the forum, & gl at the tables.

    Welcome back.

    Pretty sure I shared a table for precisely 1 hand in a PLO8 MTT the other day. I was pretty sure I had the best hand.

    I was wrong :)

    Hi all, thanks for all the comments and well wishes they mean the world and what makes this community so special :) Its been an interesting day at the tables, played the £1.10 rebuy event early this afternoon and took it down for a £35 profit which was nice. Played 2 UKOPS events tonight and a few other small Mtts. Got myself in a bit of a spot late on in the UKOPS Megastack, i think there were 23 players left and i got my 230k chips in pre with AK suited and got a call from AQ off for a 450k pot and chip lead, no good this time as my opponent turned a Q, but as we all know thats poker. Back tomorrow for some more UKOPS and thanks once again for all the lovely comments :)

    Hi all just thought i would give you all a progress report on how things are going, i will update every couple of days as i dont want to bore you all haha. I will also not just talk about poker, i will talk about life as well so i also dont bore you with just talk of how i am doing at the tables. Life got a bit complicated this morning, as you will know i am in a wheelchair and this morning i went to get my breakfast, a bowl of Cheerios and i dropped the whole box all over the floor. So there i am trapped in the kitchen with Cheerios all over the floor. Trying to get out of the kitchen without crushing them into the floor was like playing twister in a wheelchair ! As for the poker, not had much luck the last few days but i am enjoying playing the deepstack games and megastacks. Hope you are all doing well at the tables and thanks for reading and the comments :) .
