Havent most people who become the boss excelled themselves in less important roles?
Dont the public sector have to compete with the private sector, or make do with less competent managers?
Jealousy, and a lack of knowledge encourages some people to knock large salaries, but how many would turn down a huge salary if it was offered to them, on the basis of, to accept it would be greedy?
This list was compiled in 2013, and hasnt created massive public outrage?
I worked for many years with a substantial number of people that earned over 100k.
People that are highly paid consultants usually provide expert advice, or are able to exert some influence to help improve the business.
I checked out the guy at the bottom of the list, but hes no longer there. He has been replaced by a woman called Lynda Thomas. She apparently earns between 180 and 190k. Last year Macmillan collected a record £247million, up 7% from previous year. What a bargain her salary is. Lets not forget the job they do. Bargain.

Not to mention one £500,000 per week footballer earns more per year than the whole list.

I guess that I prefer that to the Politicians who get paid ridiculous amounts of money just to be a part time "adviser" to some multi-national.
