Basaksehir have left the pitch and refused to play after THE FOURTH OFFICIAL apparently called a player a negro. A little bit short on hard facts atm but Demba Ba has been sent off.

Ye my first thought was that there must be some confusion. There's no way this fourth official would be that stupid.

Right now on BT Sport there's just a video of the pitch. Commentators haven't said a word for about 10 mins. No updates at all.

I thought all he said was "this black guy" if that is classed as racist then the World has gone bonkers.

Edit: I didn't know the full story until just now. But the official was Romanian and the Romanian word for black is "Negru" so I can see where the confusion arises now. It does sound offensive but that is a language issue rather than racism in this case.

As I said hopefully a misunderstanding with the language barrier but you can understand Webo getting upset at thinking he was being called the N word (even if it turns out it was 'Negru', Romanian for black). Put yourself in Webo's shoes, he's probably experienced being called the N word multiple times before and hearing that from an official must be quite upsetting, particularly when he was already upset at the challenge on one of his players.
