Pro wakeskater makes a 'miraculous' recovery after being electrocuted by 14,000 VOLTS - the equivalent of six electric chairs - in near-deadly accident that MELTED his skin down to the bone and charred his musclesWARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. Matt Manzari, now 31, was trimming trees at his church when a powerline sent a surge of electricity through the remote controlled bucket truck he was in. The father-of-two was standing in a steel bucket that sent 14,000 volts of electricity through his body, melting 25 per cent of his skin in the process. Electric chairs use between 2,000 and 2,200 volts - meaning that Matt's body was subjected to the equivalent of six or seven of them. His ribs were left exposed, and the electricity actually burned his muscles and his ligaments. The accident left Matt in a coma (right), and doctors warned his family that he would likely not wake up - noting that if he did, he would probably have brain damage. To doctors' surprise, Matt woke up after just one week - but he still had a long road to recovery ahead, undergoing 70 surgeries to try and repair his body. He had to have the burnt muscle and tendons removed from his upper arms and chest, and is still struggling with severe pain as a result of damaged nerves (left). However Matt has actually been able to return to physical activity and has taken up wakeskating and wakeboarding again (inset).
