Sir Graham Brady, MP

The above-named shows just how different the Conservative Party is to the Labour Party. And how differently the 2 parties are treated in the mainstream press.

We regularly hear how the Labour Party is hopelessly divided, its agenda has been driven by the unelected Momentum Group, dissident wings of the Party being thrown out, blah blah. How you view all that probably depends on your personal political standpoint. For me, there are elements of truth, but the effect is exaggerated by the media.

Compare and contrast with Sir Graham Brady. The Head of that well-known bastion of true democracy, the 1922 Committee.

It was the 1922 Committee that brought about the downfall of David Cameron. It was they who insisted on a free vote on whether we should remain in Europe. Insisted on the result being binding. Insisted that Cameron could not actively campaign to Remain, as that might split the Party. While, naturally, Mr Brady was free to campaign to leave, to lobby influential and ambitious Conservatives in order to appeal to what might be best for them personally. And a group of Conservative MPs successfully rid themselves of 1 Conservative PM.

Only 1 person applied for the job of running the country after that. Theresa May. She couldn't get a deal done on Europe. Not because of opposition from the official Opposition (Labour), but because of the Right Wing of the Conservative Party. The ERG. Supported by the 1922 Committee in 2018-19. The death knell for Theresa May was a 2019 amendment to her bill proposed by, Sir Graham Brady.

He is now going for the hat-trick. Sir Graham Brady is on the steering committee of the CRG (Covid Recovery Group). They insist that, regardless of any science, or developments as we start to ease from lockdown, that Boris must commit to all measures being removed by May. It also says that we should never have entered the 2nd lockdown. It is voting against the Government on various Covid measures. Does it do all this by internal lobbying? Of course not. It openly tells the Press every step of the way.

Imagine Sir Graham Brady was in the Labour Party. Would the Press be up in arms? Only very. Would the Whip have been withdrawn, thereby expelling him from the Labour Party. Yup.

Sir Graham Brady has only received 1 "sanction" by the Conservative Party. In 2018 he was knighted "for political and public service".

Sorry but are you complaining that someone you view as a bit of a dictator is calling for the people's rights and liberties to be restored ASAP thus end the current police state's grip on power?

Dont we expect the mainstream press to support one or the other of the main two parties?
You have said that our view of this coverage is likely to be coloured by our own political viewpoint.
Arent we therefore likely to view coverage of stuff that we dont agree with as exaggerated?
I am certainly not a Graham Brady fan, and am not keen on his ERG colleagues.
It is fortunate that Boris has a fairly large majority, and that any pressure group wishing to hold him to ransom would need greater support than that required to do the same to Theresa May.
It is strange to think that since he became Chairman of the 22, he hasnt seemed to approve of any of the 3 PMs.
He hated David Cameron, wasnt keen on Theresa May, and clearly isnt a Boris fan.

We should probably take a less complacent view of our political system, and instead of feeling that because it has been running for hundreds of years, it must be good, perhaps we should think that many improvements could be made.

Although Turkeys dont vote for Christmas.
