No such thing as a bad day really unlike football that often disappoints!
However I do remember being at Royal Ascot 1986 when throughout the week my mates backed about 7 winners and I did a grand. At end of week they said shall we go onto Brighton for the Monday card not wanting to be a kill joy I agreed but knew id not make a dent in my losses.
So stood and watched an o.a.p being berated by his wife for lumping an odds on shot for Henry Cecil /Steve Cauthen that got beat. Glad id got no funds left lol.

Ha, that's awesome.
Anyway the next morning was Crayford bags and we used to rack up there with dreadful hangovers and carry on punting, one week i meet a fellow at Crayford i used to play cricket with and over a beer(hair of the dog and all that)asked what he was doing at the dog's as he was a horse man.
He told me he was down to his last thirty quid after doing his brains in the week and this was his last chance saloon,Crayford was a 10 race meet in those day's and my mate backed 9 winner's spinning his thirty quid up to about 350.
After the dog's we went back to Chislehurst to continue punting it was the racing post trophy day at Kempton and i fancied one of Pipes called Bonaza Boy my mate with his £350 decides to have a ton on it about 13/2 after jumping the first up with the pace it is soon last and ridden,it had no chance but Peter Scudamore kept pushing away for 2/12 miles and slowly got into the race jumped the last in fourth and got up on the line,if any of you can get the replay of that it was unbelievable how it won.
So my cricket mate now has a bag of sand to his name we go back to the pub to celebrate, about 6pm he want's to go to Catford so we get a cab and he backs another 7or 8 winner's and from 30 quid end the day with just shy of 5 grand.
happy days

Another bad day I recall was when I was at Town Moor for the opening of the flat season it used to be a 3 day meet and I never ever won at it despite being a Member for a few seasons ( Before I discovered Cheltenham ) any way I was stood in the stands and was well down the week and Pat Eddery was needed and started shouting one home from the three furlong pole. Full roar for three furlongs and Jim McGrath ( time form )turned round and looked as they flashed past the post. My roar for Pat was to no avail id been shouting home the wrong colours mine a well beaten fourth CRINGE
