Player's Location No Longer Shown

Has Sky Poker made a player's home town/city no longer viewable or is it something wrong with my downloaded app? I can no longer see the information.

I always found it interesting to see where people lived.

    Hi Bud,

How very odd. I just checked a few random tables & none of the players are showing a "field address". (Location).

I've no idea why, & I'm pretty sure it's not intentional, or not as far as I'm aware. I suppose it could be a Compliance thing but if so first I've heard of it.

I'll check it again in the morning, & if they are still not showing, I'll have a word with the office on Monday.

    Hi mate,

I now understand that the player locations have been removed due to Data Protection issues.

It will be kept under review, but for the time being that's the situation.

Shame really, but can't be helped.

Thanks Tikay, I suspected it was something to do with that.

Seems a bit silly, especially since the information has been shown for years. Also, if someone didn't want their location revealed then they can always put it as "None of Your Business" which I have seen for at least one player. Unfortunately the times we live in.

Yes, that seems to be the case.

Always good to see where someone is from and chat with someone from your locale.
On a slightly negative note will be harder to spot collusion now as there has been instances in DYMs when the players locations was a help in identifying this

Be good to have it as an opt in.. default no. That would be compliant surely.

Was always wary in DYM when you had 3 players from the same locale. Going to make collusion easier.

    Why?

Well I assume you mean why will it make it easier? Because now we can no longer see that the guys playing suspiciously all just happen to be from the same location.

That was always a bit of a red flag.

    Hope you're keeping well.

Thanks for the 3 points last Saturday

I don't see how you need location to pick up on collusion. Seems a really bad way to pick up on collusion.

I doubt it makes the slightest bit of difference
It’s just as easy for 3 players from Belfast, Edinburgh and London to collude.

You could also put down any location you wished before.

    Thank you. You too.

Tbf Jossys Giants could take 3 points off us right now

i think it was nice to see where peoples location was, helped induce conversation about facts like what football team would support and history etc. also agree that i dont see how seeing 2 or people on a table from same location suggests possible collusion, a decent player will spot colluding no matter of what it says about their location. ive played 1000s of dyms and i liked when i saw someone from my town playing, i would be interested to get to know them and find out if they played in any poker leagues or casino tournis . if any one is going to collude and be stupid enough to do so im sure they will get caught out whether the location is shown or not

Yes, but the Locations being removed was not in any way connected with collusion concerns, they were removed due to GDPR issues.

i never said it was connected with collusion concerns. my views were in reply to what others had said on this thread
