The furious brawl was caught on camera during an episode of TLC reality series Gypsy Brides US, which documented the wedding of gypsies Alyssa and Heath. At the start of the show, Alyssa, a Romani Gypsy, admits that her own mother is refusing to attend her wedding to Heath, a Romanichal Gypsy from Virginia. Alyssa attends her wedding dress fitting with three of her cousins, who are serving as her bridesmaids; it is very rare for a gypsy's mother to not be there. The bride and groom are then thrown out of Heath's mother's house, where they were living, because she was told Alyssa had been gossiping about her love life. Heath's mom Nettie says she will not attend the wedding, however her sister, Mellie, insisted on going, and claimed she was going to 'beat' bride Alyssa. At the ceremony, Alyssa's cousin and bridesmaid Diamond overheard Mellie threatening the bride, and got into a furious fight with her outside (left). Bystanders called the police after the two women began throwing punches in the street, and Alyssa (inset) and Heath made a quick getaway before the cops arrived.
