Sunday Major Freeroll Final Table Hand - Question for the Sats specialists

Unusually I finished work early and late registered the Sunday Major Freeroll satellite. Ran like God to get to the final table and was lying 3/5 at this point, 3 qualify for a Sunday Major seat. I get dealt 66 and cover 2 of the 3 players to act after me, despite only having less than 5 BB myself, what is the correct play here? I guess it's a fold , but am I being results orientated?

As you can see I shoved, ran into two better hands and missed out on the seats, thus ensuring that I used up a month's supply of run good to no avail whatsoever!

I had ran in through ICM and came out with this. 66 is a +EV move long term so you made the right move.

I have looked at various spots and I found if 2 opponents had 12000 then this 66 becomes afold. I didn't a just what the other players call in that spot so it could be false but one things for sure it's most certainly a call in this spot even if I give the remaining plays a wider calling range than ICM

Yeah, agree with the others. Am certainly no "satellite specialist", but I don't see how you can't shove pocket 6s in that spot, especially given that the blinds would soon wear you down with that stack. If you end up flipping then so be it, but you can't really expect one of the players in the blinds to have a bigger pocket pair, let alone both of them. Just very unlucky.

Definitely a shove in theory. As Craig shows, we can shove pretty wide. A rule of thumb near the bubble of a satellite is that we can shove somewhat wide in late position, but we should call extremely tight. There can be spots where we should fold 100% of our hands to an all in - E.g. if we're on the bubble with a comfortable stack and there's a few very short stacks. If the SB covered us and shoves, we should fold AA. Why risk being knocked out 15-20% of the time if we'd expect to win a seat 90+% of the time by just folding. The SB can therefore theoretically shove any two cards against us. Of course theory is all well and good, but it doesn't mean much if the BB is just going to snap us off with KQo! So make sure you know your opponent.

I am something of a Sats specialist. There are certainly people on this site who I regard as better than me at MTTs, yet weaker in Sats.

The question is always going to be player dependent-how aggro are the Blinds, particularly the BB, cos he can afford to punt once if he wishes with those stack sizes.

I do not think that ICM is particularly useful here. Both because it tends to operate primarily in terms of chips, and because players vary far more from the expected norms in Sat play. The assumptions made by ICM do not hold up well here.

I think @Tedson has it spot on here. Shove wider than ICM, and call tighter.

Unless you know the Blinds are calling wider than they should, 66 is a shove all day. So is 44.

Finally, worth noting what would have happened if passed here. SB doubles up, and you are now 4th. And probably desperately hoping for a hand as good as 66 to shove with.
