If the answer is no then you should have raised him on flop, trapping on flop looks good but it's not, I make this mistake all the time we not really trapping him because most of the stuff he'll bet turn will also call a flop raise unless he's some sort of crazy player.
If you gonna call anything then make it AA or AK with a club as these are not very vunerable to draws, have no problem calling a club turn or river and block the things which we will see call a raise. 55 is less vunereable that AA or AK but we still want to raise 55 on flop because it blocks non of the things which call a raise.
I am guilt of making the mistake trapping people too often myself IP and what happens is I create a range now filled with lots of strength, my opponent will slow down with his weaker hands on later streets and what happens is I'm now losing max value when on the bad end of coolers, getting minimum value from winning coolers and am always in trouble knowing how to play my air.
It is so good to have advice from better players and I note that this was never in my thinking here because I think and fall into my own trap of don't let him get away. The hand we played previously to this one set up the perfect dynamic for him to see my raise on the flop as steam from me and making it look like a draw of some kind would of been the best way to build this pot from the get go. As played he is never folding when he leads flop.
When I look at my hand now and I see the 5of clubs this is such a key card here because it means I can also have Ac5c 4c5c 5c6c rather than just 5c5h and I could be on that draw that you always see people raising vs top pair. Also the point about AcKx is also very relevant as again we are ahead.
Also the point you make about 55blocks nothing that will call the raise must be in my thinking and also the player type who was chip leader and v splashy and all the components are there for me to get the big pot ( or at least get it in ahead ). I am getting there slowly Craig so wanted to say thanks mate and good luck at the tables.
Best regards
Danny
