Sunday Quiz - 09/05/21

QUICKFEETQUICKFEET Member Posts: 528
As so many people "round here" like their horse racing, this week the quiz is "Name these famous horses".

I am casual follower of the sport so, as I wrote down 8 of these horses off the top of my head before Googling a couple more, this might be too easy for some of you. Although as I followed the racing more when it was on "Grandstand" and they used to interupted Grands Prix with the 2:10 from Kempton, these are mostly from the '70s and '80s.

Nay, nay, nay... only one response and @tomgoodun got 7. Here are the full answers:

    1) Shergar
    2) Aldaniti
    3) Crisp
    4) Desert Orchid
    5) Mill Reef
    6) Devon LocH
    7) Party Politics
    8) Hallo Dandy
    9) Tiger Roll
    10) Shirley Heights

I guess the last two or three as weren't well known although Tiger Roll got quite abit of air-time on ITV at the recent Cheltenham Festival. I guess I should've mention that in the clue.

I intended to have a bash at this @QUICKFEET but was a bit waylaid yesterday & clean forgot.

My eye was certainly drawn to two of the horses in the list, Mill Reef & Shirley Heights.

For a quick bonus, can anyone list THREE things which link those two horses?

Mill Reef was Shirley Heights “ Dad”
    Both Horses won the Derby
    They both like eating grass

    @tomgoodun

2 out of 3 there Tom.

The third is a curiosity about their names.

You either know stuff, or you dont.
The quirky things are the easiest to remember.

I do recall about three years ago whilst plopping, with Mr Kendall on my table, that he lived on or close to where Hurst Park had a course. In the chat box, obv.

Of course, it’s your choice to doubt.

    An outrageous accusation.

Google will know whether you should fold, call or raise.
DuckDuckGo will also know this............but won’t inform anybody else.
