Who won what, Sunday 9th May - seikus wins the Major again

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 171,844

Morning.

MTT numbers were broadly flat w-o-w, though worth noting that the Major had it's best numbers for a month. I keep expecting numbers to collapse - time of year, Lockdown easing - but there seems to be a resistance level. The big test of course will be May 17th - a week today - when our illustrious PM confirms further significant Lockdown easing. We've all been cooped up for so long, I don't think too many of us will mind guarantees dropping if it means some sense of normality returns & we can all get out & about.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£1,211)

Pleased to see MAGPIETYKE take this, his best score since he won UKOPS01 at the end of March.

neenio (2nd) is having a wonderful 2021. He's won two Main Events, the 7 @ 7 twice, and he owns that £1k BH @ 7.30pm, having won it FIVE times this year.

In 4th was HAMSTER78, who might just be the best Mesocricetus auratus on Sky Poker.

    £6,000 Bounty Hunter (£7,620)

Goodness me, fancy these two doddery old so & so's running 1st & 2nd in a £6,000 affair. They've both been with Sky Poker since the year dot, & know each other in real life thanks to meeting up at SPT's. I doubt either of them have spent too much time studying or discussing the relative merits of GTO v exploitive, push fold charts, solvers, blockers, stakers or any other ers. They just log in, reg up (with their own money), play by feel & enjoy their poker. God bless them both. Well, God bless Solack. Not so sure about the awkward one.

3rd was grinddd, with Palace Bloke 5th.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£16,800)

Many congrats to seikus for achieving the extremely rare feat of winning Sunday Major twice in three weeks. It's not that it was an easy FT either - FuzzyDare (4th) won it a week ago, & jordz16 (5th) took it down this time last month.

Plenty of familiar faces came up just short, including chrisdonkb, Uzi_lover (a real blast from the past), lolufold, loosecamel, Whizzy, hughjarse, yobbie, destinycod & PBKR.

    £2,000 Mini Major (£2,050)

Runner-up zzgoose win Mini Hitman a fortnight ago.

yobbie (3rd) came quite close to FTJ money, 23rd in the Major (for which he won entry in a Freeroll) & 3rd here.

    £1,500 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,620)

Wurzelboy gets his first ever namecheck by wining Mega.

What a day for Shrimpy28. Started by winning MidEx, & after a good night's sleep he enjoyed a vegan breakfast, a 10 mile run, an hour working out in the gym, then went on to finish 2nd in Mega. As a physical specimen, he's right up there with @rspca12.

    £2,000 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£2,500)

ozzieowen took Sheriff for the 4th time in 2 months, & in doing so, rather rained on NOSTRI's parade, as it meant NOSTRI came up one spot shy of a 2nd Sheriff win inside a week. NOSTRI also ran deep in both the £6k BH & Mini Major. The improvement in his game is quite remarkable, & he's now only 13 points worse than @Shrimpy28 in the Sharky ability ratings.

An extraordinary head haul here by the winner - 74 entries, & he took 21 heads. That must be very near the top of the range for the entry/heads ratio.

There must be scores of cover versions of "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" & as it's such a great piece of music they are all good.

I happened across this version by Eric Clapton & Peter Frampton last night, at the Crossroads Guitar Fessie. One of the best I've seen - maybe 2nd only to the Jeff Beck version at Ronnie Scott's Club.

Yes, I'm familiar with that. Great line up of guitarists on that, though I'm no fan of George Harrison's son. (Is his name Diawon or something?)
