I saved almost £800 per year on my house insurance the other day, which made me aware we can often pay through the nose for insurance.
I started insuring my car in 2015, as I was driving a company car for the few years prior to this.
This meant that I had to start again on my no claims bonus.
My renewal quote for next year was £425, down from £475 this year, presumably due to the increase in no claims bonus.
I quickly checked through the details, and found that a couple were clearly incorrect.
Firstly they had grossly overestimated my likely annual mileage.
And secondly, exaggerated the value of the car.
It took about one minute to check the value with WeBuyAnyCar, before contacting the insurance company.
They updated the details and the renewal price was reduced to £275.
This prompted me to check elsewhere.
I logged in to GoCompare.
This was quite easy as my details were saved, and I just had to update a couple of them.
I have now renewed elsewhere for £178.
So it was well worth a check.
