Who won what, Sunday 30th May - smash57 dominates SPT Online with a facile victory

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 171,844

Morning all.

What a weekend. Brentford became a Premier League club, Chelsea won the CL - again - & most intriguing of all, Zidane left Real Madrid. Just imagine him being the Manager of a Premier League club.

On Sky Poker, the headlines were dominated by the SPT. Numbers were a disappointment, & all sorts of fingers were being pointed, but it happened & that's that. Nobody died. At the tables it went really well, the software behaved itself - relatively speaking - & most of the players seemed to enjoy it. I don't have the inside line on this, not even discussed it with Upstairs, but I'd bet good money it will return later this year, either Online or Live.

It's been a long & tiring weekend & I'm running on fumes today, so todays thread will be pleasantly brief.

    SPT Online (£100,000)

This is reported elsewhere (live Update Thread) so not much more to add. Sharky say the winner has played exactly 3 MTT's on Sky Poker, all of them this weekend. He certainly ran well on the FT, but my word he played well, & looked easily the pick of the bunch to me & he destroyed the final table.

Sky Poker is more community-based than most sites, so there's a desire to see "familiar names" win it, but I'm not sure that's right or fair. There were certainly some fine performances by the usual suspects, but it was not to be their day. Overall, it went well, but then I would say that as I'm really never going to qualify to be a member of Team Doom & Gloom.

    £6,000 Bounty Hunter (£6,150)

A lovely score for spearsy136, his best since he was 2nd in a boomlet Avenger this time last year for over £2,300.

In 5th was @PKRPar was was in delicious form last night, a very fine 12th in the SPT & 5th here. He's very popular amongst the lads, & rightly so.

In 6th was THETANK, another who enjoyed a thrilling ride in the SPT.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£15,000)

The winner has just 30 Sky Poker MTT's to his name, but interestingly his ABI is over £100. This was his 2nd win of over £4,000 too, he was 2nd in a UKOPS HR for £4,200 & 1st here for the same sum.

Because I happen to know him personally, I would love to have seen Dog Bloke win this, and I look forward to congratulating him in person when I next bump into him at the gym. 2nd for £2,430 is handy enough.

Lord Pointy elbows, aka HAYSIE was 4th, I dread to think how many times he has finalled the Sunday Major & I certainly have no plans to ask him as he'll prattle on forever.

As we already saw, THETANK ran deep in SPT, 6th in the £6,000 BH & 5th here. That's a decent night by any standards.

    £2,000 Mini Major (£2,150)

A few familiar names here as one of the most elderly players on the site - glencoelad - took the win, ahead of Arrogant who was wearing his "Good Guy" badge, with loosecamel 4th.

Special mention to rising star aynaricol, who has been mainly playing £1, £2 & £5 stuff but ventured into £10 territory here & finished a fine 8th. She would manage just fine at even higher stakes imo.

Well done also to allan23, roddy, PBKR, Shrimpy, LmfaoAllin, bbMike & biggirl.

    NOSTRI played it too.

He absolutely dominated the late stages of the SPT, & won over £16,600, so this was a very easy decision.
