Ryan, from Litchfield County in Connecticut, was taking his golden dog out for a walk in the rain on July 1. But his doorbell camera captured a painful moment that happened just before the pair set off. Just as Ryan lets his excitable pooch out of the front porch gate he turns the other way. And his dog spots a rabbit in the distance and immediately lunges after it. Because Ryan is still clutching the retractable leash when the dog runs off he is dragged along. He smashes into the porch railings and is almost pulled over them and on to the ground below.
