    Maths rules say multiply first put in brackets then answer ten could put 2 plus 2 in brackets for answer to be 16

    Yeah 10. X takes precedent over + iirc. Its called the bodmas rule. Giyf

    The (correct) answer is, and always will be, 10. BODMAS (brackets, open, division, multiplication, addition, subtraction), or PEDMAS in the good old U.S of A, is the correct order of solving equations such as the one above.

    My thought for the day - good to learn something new every day.

    I would have automatically gone for 16 but not considered any alternatives until I read this.

    Exactly the same here. I would have bet my life the correct answer was 16. The older I get the more I realise the depth of my ignorance.
