DoublemeDoubleme Member Posts: 2,149
did a second lateral flow test I thought the first was possibly a false positive because was very faint and didnt look like the ink stuff went all the way and maybe the line was caused by the ink stuff stoping?

did second test today clear line this time.

originally i had no symptons the odds of a false positive with no symptons is 1.1%. did second today have had symptons now the odds of a false positive when symptons is 0.5% so we have 0.011*0.005 so 1 in 18182 that I dont have covid 19 now basically I got covid 19.

I am double vaccinated and I caught covid 19 still and now am actually ill. so great prospects for the vaccine.

Be glad you've had the Vaccine, because if you hadn't, you might well have been in Hospital by now. Believe me it's not nice when that happens to you, and hopefully you will recover quickly, and be OK with no long term side effects

Ask Lennie Lawrenson if he wishes he'd had the vaccine .......oh sorry, you can't.

Use your time in isolation to read up on Covid vaccines and their core goals (hint; it's not to stop you contracting it)

    Stay well.

I dont deny nor was I attempting to deny that the vaccine offers some level of protection against getting very ill.

My concern is that it does not offer complete protection the virus is still spreading and I know personally of people that have had both vaccines and still caught covid twice.

over time the protection the virus offers gets reduced and its everytime we get it we have a small chance of dying.

I originally thought I would play lots of poker during isolation when I was asymptomatic now I have started to feel too ill to do so. I guess I could study the game in the mean time for small bursts energy levels are low at the moment.

What I am terrified of is passing it onto my partner who lives with me so far they have tested negative and we started isolating as soon as I tested positive. the problem is earlyier that day before I tested negative we did what adults do (not sure if appropriate to mention sexual stuff on forums but for purposes of mentioning the medical situation) so I dont know how she has not got the virus herself yet.

random question does the strenth of the t line indicate infection level eg I am aware any line no mattter how faint indicates positive result, but if the line was very faint first time would that mean I was less infectious then when second test showed a darker T line?

It was never designed to offer ''complete protection''.

No vaccine in the history of vaccines has ever been 100% effective.
Use your isolation time wisely and do a little reading.

Though I suspect this thread was just a thinly veiled excuse to mention getting laid and thus should be moved to BBV.

I have lived with my partner for nearly two years now, if getting laid was something to brag about at this point that would be quite worrying.

I might show up for a few timed tournaments I tend to have short bursts of energy where I feel able to function and work then suddenly feel wiped out MTTS are not realistic at the moment but I guess few heads up hypers/spin and goes/timed tournement may not be out of question if have energy levels at the time. feel bored dont want to go back to warcraft have a bad relationship with blizzard games.

BBV is for more than just brags, there is a clue in the abbreviation.

Enjoy your iso time, spend it wisely.

I didn’t think you were in denial seeing as the thread title said it was official that you had Covid

    Wishing you a speedy recovery

So I believe the mystery of how despite having covid and been intimate with my partner (obviously before I found out I had covid) my partner has not yet got covid she might still come down with it.

when I first got the positive result the line was very faint on the T line so much so I thought it could have been a mistake. or false positive. One hypothesis was that the ink had not run all the way to the end and the line was just debris from where the coloured ink like stuff stopped. One thing vital to note at this point is I had no symptons what so ever. then two days later I developed mild symptons did another lateral flow test in case first was a mistake and T line was much clearer but still faint.

by this point my partner was convinced they must be immune as they would have by now if not based on the close contact we had on the friday. I said I am not taking that chance we are still isolating (she wanted to stop isolating we been sleeping in different rooms on my insistence as I dont want to spread it to her she was not happy with this)

on the third day (yesterday I got very ill and felt terrible my partner was still making the immune comments I asked her to place a lateral flow test outside the door of room I am isolating in. explained my hypothesis that the strength of the T line may indicate how infectious one is. and it may be that initially I was at my lowest level of infection. I did not need to wait long on the lateral flow test this time within 2 minutes before the C line showed the T line was clear by the time the timer had rung the T line was black.

whilst none of my methodology likely constitutes a scientific study and I am not scientifically qualified this did strongly back my hypothesis suddenly my partner was like **** and taking the isolation much more seriously.

not sure if my conclusions on the T line is a thing I googled it but I suck at Googling so got nowhere.

I wanted to play poker during the isolation and get a bit in but yesterday I was so wiped out and ill it was just completely unrealistic.

woke up at 6.30am today feeling quite a bit better not sure if that temporary or if I am beginning the recovery stage now.

I decided if I cant play yesterday then i will study instead did literally F all study was struggling with illness. Decided to watch 1997 game 5 of the NBA finals for inspiration with the mentality of "if Michael Jordan can play world class basketball and be dominant with flu like symptoms I can study when ill with covid." had to keep pausing and rewinding backwards as was to ill to pay full attention to the game and kept missing bits.

Hopefully today can be more productive if I dont start feeling really ill again.

You're not too ill to write an essay all about it to a group of strangers on a poker forum though.

The strength of the line on a Lateral Flow Test isn't an indication of how bad you have COVID, it just shows that you have tested positive for it, even if it's faint, and you must order a PCR Test to confirm you have got COVID (which you did).

The Rules on people who have had two jabs changed yesterday, but your partner should self isolate for 10 days from when you tested positive and because she has been in contact with you, so you might as well self isolate together. She should do lateral flow tests or order a PCR Test to check whether she tests positive for COVID

To GOOGLE anything, just open a new tab (using Google Chrome browser) and type in the address bar what you want to know........ so simple even I can do it ;)
