Limped pots from BB Flop top pair bad kicker MTT

This seems to happen a lot in some of the lower stakes MTTs on SKY.
In the BB and we flop top pair / bad kicker in a multi way limped pot.
Board texture will of course be a factor, but any thoughts / opinions on how to procced on flop?
Betting/ Checking/ Mixing up between the two?
