Who won what, Wednesday 1st September - Mystery Number wins the Predator Main

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 171,844

Good afternoon.

A much delayed thread today, so probably another brief one.

Once again, the Main was at it's best number for around a month, but only by a very small amount, essentially Predator Main has been flat-lining the last month. Everything else was there or thereabouts.

Another quiet day for sport, with the official Ronaldo announcement at last being made. Meanwhile, on the other side of Manchester - the noisy neighbour side - Mr Mendy was further remanded in custody until September 10th. One has to assume there is either a strong belief he might jump bail - well he can probably afford to - &/or the charges are very serious & the CPS believe they have very good evidence. I'm definitely not engaging schadenfreude mode here, nothing I detest more, and whist I certainly understand how the alleged victims must feel, I can't help but think what his mindset must be. Living the high life, probably in a house worth multi-millions, playing in the Premier League da de da. And now he's sitting in a cell in Strangeways, all his creature comforts denied. I wonder what he's thinking? Not a sympathy vote, these things are just so fascinating. I bet he wishes he could turn the clock back though. Don't we all?

Oh, & it's England v India in the Test at the Kia Oval today. I confidently expect India to bat & be around 38-3 at lunch.

Another good result for PRHack93, taking down 7 @ 7. Either he has improved considerably, or he's on the mother of all heaters. Either way, his Sharky graph is getting ever steeper.

Chalky666, who ended Tuesday with 5th in Midex, was third. And he's still not claimed his £33 free entry for winning MML ages ago.

In 6th was Shrimpy - or perhaps we should call him Slimpy now that he's losing weight faster than he can lose money.

For all the chuntering about Sky Poker, it's software & it's Promos - some of which is justified - there's still something that keeps players loyal to the place. Looking at players like anjie1970 (1st), Monty15 (2nd), THETANK (4th) & Wacko (6th), I estimate they've been with Sky Poker a combined 30+ years. Quite something when you think about it, especially with so many other sites out there with sexy software these days. I'd love to know what it is that keeps so many players loyal to Sky Poker. If you think you know the answer, I'm all ears.

I genuinely can't tell you a thing about our Main Event winner except that I can't see any record of previous success or even activity in MTT's, but I'm pretty sure they have played a good deal of cash here. So for now, Mr Numbers will have to remain a Mystery Number. It is a very odd alias, but I'm guessing it's his great grandma's Co-Op number. As a little boy I got sent to the Co-Op to get the shopping & woe betide me if I never quoted the Co-Op number. 60 odd years on I can still remember it clearly. These days I bet you have to insert a plastic card in a machine or somesuch.

Runner-up PlzFold has a handy CV, including taking down a Good Rush Main last year, & in doing so beating @MattBates heads up. Course, Mr Bates was quite good at the time. Those were the days.

Perhaps the most pleasing result here was gibbzy in third. He's been having a really thin time for a month or so, but I've not heard him moan or groan. He kept at it though & it all came right last night, winning his seat for £1.80 in an All-In Sat & going home with over £350 in his back pocket. Congrats mate, you deserve it.

Mini winner grandpabak is another of those long-term loyal Sky Poker players. Been here 13 years, played ~19,000 MTT's, & always made a few bob.

A surprise to see The--Don in the runner-up berth. He has a love-hate relationship with MTT's, which depends on which way the wind is blowing, whether the date is odd & if his piles are playing up. Evidently he was sitting comfortably yesterday.

    WAREZ, a multi-winner of the MML was 3rd with old-stager jawzindawz 4th.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,300)

    Monty15, 2nd in the £1k BH, took this, with THETANK - 4th in the same £!k BH - 6th.

I looked in on this with about 10 players left & The--Don was sitting comfortably - in every sense - with a decent chip lead, but when I next looked he had busto in 5th place. If I were a betting man I'd guess he was probably "on the move" & ran into someone who had a real hand. So that's 2 FT's in one night. He'll be out of love with MTT's today I would imagine, but he'll be back tomorrow, chomping at the bit. A very odd sort, not just Marmite but Vegi-Marmite.

    £1,500 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£1,750)

Sheriff was a real Team Serious benefit, with Palace getting the nod - he was long overdue - and the likes of BooBoo, IamAll_En, Jscorgie & Crushy all involved at the sharp end.

    £1,500 Turbo Bounty Hunter (£1,650)

Slimpy took Turbo, just two nights after he was 3rd in it. His graph is looking really good this year, it's a shame he often works evenings as I'm quite sure he'd make a lot more if he were available more often.

    £1,000 Quickdraw (£1,500)

Rather like Sheriff, this was another Team Serious benefit & one of the toughest FT's of the night, with our man seikus eventually emerging triumphant.

Monty15 (5th) made his third FT of the night, while Wacko, skyflyer & AlexaAJ were all making it two FT's, though the last named also won a £500 early evening BH. Amazing how the same players do so well repeatedly. Favoured players I suppose.

    In other news...

There's nothing funny or clever about slowrolls (except for bants between mates) - but there are exceptions.

I had the good fortune to be table-side when this happened in the WSOP some years back.

Absolutely the best slowroll ever - & Mr SlowRoller, Jack Ury, was 96 years old, God bless him. Sadly he's left us now, but I bet he's playing poker upstairs.

    This is just delicious.
