Who won what, Thursday 9th September - Emma steals the headlines

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 174,004

Morning.

MTT traffic was pretty decent last night, & everything covered comfortably which is a great way to end the week. (The Business accounting week runs Friday to Thursday).

In sport, firstly some disappointing news - the Fifth Test between England & India has been cancelled. Quite a bit of bad blood around the decision too, as in fact India refused to play it. There was some chat suggesting India would forfeit the game & therefore the series would be deemed a 2-2 draw, but that seems to have gone away. So if you bet on India to win the Series, you may be facing an argument with your bookie.

The BIG news though was Emma Raducanu - she did it, she's in the Final. Not only in the Final, but she's the 4/6 favourite.

Once again she never dropped a set, so she's now played nine US Open matches without losing a single set.

It's a statistician's dream too, so many "first ever" or "first time in xty years".

If anyone was wondering about her unusual surname, her Dad is Romanian, her Mum is Chinese, she was born in Canada & the family moved to Bromley, in England, when Emma was two years old.

She seems such a lovely girl. The final is tomorrow.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£945)

Many of you will "know" MacMonster, who took last night's 7 @ 7. He's enjoyed a lovely poker journey which includes winning the Sky Poker Six Max at DTD for some £13,000, & 8th in a UKIPT, also at DTD, for around £22,000. He a bit like @HAYSIE in that he has an awkward style which confuses & very often annoys the serious boys. And the more it annoys them the more he likes it.

    £1,000 Bounty Hunter (£1,160)

Cammykaze has had a thin time of it the last few months but that seems to be changing & he's had a glorious 48 hours. On Wednesday he won a £300 BH for around £50, and he followed up last night with the £1k BH for £330. He stayed on site, picking up another £120 for 4th in Turbo, and finished up by running 2nd in a little £100 freezeout for £40. By any standards that's a decent evening. For good measure, he binked a Silver Ticket (£100) in today's Golden Ticket Giveaway draw.

    Palace was 3rd, PRhack 4th & PBKR 5th.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,260)

Sunday8pm looked in good shape to win the Main at one stage before fading into 8th in the late stages but he did at least take Mega by way of consolation, with heddoh 2nd.

clarke996 was 5th in the Main & then went on to bink the Sheriff.

In 2nd was Crushy, who also picked up a £100 Silver Ticket in the GTG draw this morning.

A triumvirate of Big Boys crossed the line in 7th, 8th & 9th ( @PBKR @NChanning & @Sunday8pm ) but never got paid a penny between them. Hopeless, all three of them.

    In other news...

As if Crushy did not win enough on Sky, he won the Gladiator on 'Stars last night for around $6,000.

Over on Party, @PBKR was 2nd in the WPT Mix-Max, collecting $5,000.

    __________________________________________________________

All the way back in 1934, the gentleman pictured below started a bookmaking business, which he named after himself - William Hill.

Last year it was sold to Caesars Entertainment, who badly wanted the USA division. Yesterday, the UK arm was sold to 888 Holdings, so it's possible the name Wm Hill will disappear from our High Streets soon. More likely they will keep the old name, but vanity is a strange thing so we'll have to wait & see.

Just found (read) this 'Who Won What' thread. I thought It'd all be about results but was surprised at the (sometimes) humorous posts.

    @goldnballz

There is now talk of re-scheduling the Test for next Summer. Which may well mean your bet won't be settled until then.
