Who won what, Tuesday 14th September - mcg returns in style

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 173,965

Morning.

Nothing special about the numbers last night, though it was good to see the £5,000 Main make £6,180, as it missed guarantee last week.

Team GB are set to lose the Silver Medal they won in the Men's Relay at the recent Olympics after the B sample of C J Ujah tested positive. His Relay team-mates will all lose their medals too, so they won't be jumping for joy at the news.

Ronaldo played his second game for Man U since his return & scored again. That boy is beyond amazing. I saw a piece yesterday which mentioned that Ronaldo & Wayne Rooney are both the same age. Wow.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£854)

    skyflyer was 2nd in an early evening £500 BH, & followed up by winning 7 @ 7. So it looked like a solid session was on the cards, but it was not to be & unfortunately it was all blanks after that great start.

    It was a similar story for PRhack93, 3rd here, 5th in a £1,000 Rebuy BH that started 10 minutes later, after which there was not much to write home about.

    £1,000 Bounty Hunter (£1,000)

    Playing just their 2nd MTT since April, hr999 took the £1,000 BH. Won a Mega last year, but very little form to speak of, though sample size is small.

    Tough final, which included peiratis, Alexa, Makaka & seikus.

    £5,000 Gold Rush (£6,180)

    harrypump played a bunch of Main Event satellites but came up dry. Undaunted, he paid in anyway & ended up winning the thing for some £1,060. Far as I can see this was their first visit to the winner's enclosure since taking a Quickdraw in May of last year. Well done Mr Pump.

    It was a battle of the old boys for 2nd & 3rd, with EBBERDON shading it ahead of HAYSIE. Between them, those two have been with Sky Poker a combined 28 years or so. Guess they like the place. Luckily, neither are the type to complain. Much.

    In 5th was tonyp142, still revelling in the afterglow of his Sunday Major win 48 hours earlier.

    @harrypump 2060000 1 £842.02 + £214.83 Head Prizes 6

    £1,500 Mini Gold Rush (£1,955)

    KevDoc87 has not seen any time in the Results Thread spotlight so winning the Mini was a great way to get started.

    Richknott single-tabled his way to 2nd, having won Gold Rush Mini earlier this year, again single-tabling.

    £5,000 Summit Bounty Hunter (£5,900)

    Good to see mcg899 back, has been absent from the Sky Poker streets since February, except for 3 games in May. Back with a bang too, winning Summit for some £1,900, 7th in the Main & 2nd in Turbo.

    A remarkable achievement by runner-up whitters95, who has now FT'd the Summit for the last three weeks on the bounce, finishing 2nd, 5th & 2nd. Three Summit finals back to back takes some doing.

    Nighg, Wacko & RCord were all top six, no surprises there.

    Another interesting one was yoddler in 5th. A new alias on me until they won last Friday's Reload, 48 hours later was 3rd in the Sunday Major, & another 48 hours on now 5th in Summit. Looks like we have a live one.

    @mcg899 295000 1 £1091.50 + £802.48 Head Prizes 8

    @whitters95 0 2 £649 + £196.89 Head Prizes 4

    £1,500 Reload Rebuy B/Hunter (£1,698)

    Thendo1987, a MidEx winner in April, played just 2 games last night, drawing a blank in a mid-morning Freeroll then coming up trumps in Reload.

    Kahuna was 2nd, with Mr Bates in 3rd.

    Solid session for RCord, 6th in Summit, 5th in Reload, 6th in Turbo & 3rd in Quickdraw.

    In other news...

    Over in Las Vegas, Golden Nugget are running their "Grand Poker Series" later this month to coincide with the WSOP. It's a beautiful room, one of the best I've ever played in, and their Tourneys are always fun to play. Beating the game is another matter altogether though - this one, which is typical, is a $200 Big O, & games don't get much better than Big O. But take a look at the juice - it's a $200 buy-in, of which $48 goes to the house. So that's $152 + $48, or broadly speaking 30% juice. Ouch.

    Having said that, if I could only play in one room for the rest of my life, it'd be Golden Nugget on Fremont St Vegas, irrespective of the juice. If you ever get to Vegas, go give it a try.

    In honour of our Main Event winner harrypump, here's Pump It Up, an unusually modern choice for me. Not sure I've ever heard a worse piece of music, tbh. What is the matter with kids these days?

    Whoever wins the comp will likely also be obliged to throw some more $$$ from their bink to the dealers.

    I remember being drunk in Blondies once and settling our bill. We miscalculated the tip due to alcohol and being thick. Think it worked out at about 7%.

    We were stopped on leaving by our lovely server 'Amber', who asked if there was a problem with the service. We were a little bemused as the service had been fine and we couldn't work out why she was stood in front of the exit.

    It was then pointed out to us that we'd only tipped a measly low amount, and we sheepishly threw more dollars at her to make it the standard 15-20%.

    We were then free to go.

    Vegas; gotta love it.

    Played in the Grand Series every time I go to Vegas, superbly run in a excellent venue even if the juice is high

    100% agree. We go to Vegas to have fun, & if the juice is high so be it. I think Golden Nugget is my favourite Vegas venue, but Binions is not far behind. Binions is disorganised and a health hazard, but it's the spirit of Vegas & I adore it, with their 75 year old female dealers & valets in their mini skirts.

    And in the breaks, we can wander out into Fremont St & soak up the atmo, listen to live bands, grab a Starby, (there are two in Golden Nugget alone) watch the novelty turns.

    Love it.

    Yes, even Elvis Costello, the most untalented bloke ever ever ever, will likely have been an improvement on that.
