Event #4: The Reunion No-Limit Hold'em ($500 entry)
Sunday was Day 1C, which completed the three opening flights.
Again, too early to write anything meaningful. Once Day 1B is done & dusted (today) we can update this properly.
I did notice one Brit (allegedly) near the top of the Day 1C chip counts though, but I believe he may be Spanish.
Javier Fernandez Cardiff, GB 2,975,000This very familiar face was spotted amongst the hordes of Reunion players;

This played to a conclusion yesterday, with Connor Drinan taking the win & his 2nd WSOP Bracelet.
Robert Mizrachi, who I felt might win it, ended up 3rd.
As far as I can see, not a single Brit cashed, although of course Limit Poker is not something Brits play much.

Event #7: Dealers Choice 6-Handed ($1,500 entry)
307 entries, & after Day 1 88 remained, of which 47 will get paid.The chippie is Nathan Gamble, who won a PLO8 Bracelet in 2017.
The only 2 Brits I could see were Southampton's Benny Glaser & Folkestone's Adam Owen, neither of whom were in great shape.
As expected, Allan "Chainsaw" Kessler was in the field. He'll be playing all the "small stuff" right through the Series having sold half his action.
The rarest of sights at the WSOP - no queues to register. This was at 3am though...
Oh, wait - this is more like it. And believe me, that is a seriously long queue, it goes right up past the Rotunda.
More queues...
Until you have experienced it, I think it’s hard to really understand the size of everything.
I saw the fossil man when we went Tony, he did not look well at all. Carrying extra “ timber “ he was out of breath , red faced and sweating , just climbing up the small set of stairs where everyone gathers for a smoke during a break.
There were a lot of faces and names I have seen on TV over the years. I will always regret not going over and saying hello to Mike Sexton, I don’t like bothering people, he was getting ready to play the same PLO/PLO8/BIGO tournament as us and had already smiled and said hello, posed for loads of photos. I wanted to not be one of those people, but sadly won’t ever get the chance again. At least I got to hear the recognisable voice at close range.
One day, hopefully, I will go back to Vegas...... unfinished business.
@pompeynic
Those steps & the smoking area you mention is just outside these doors. Which tells you how long the queue is.
@Allan23
Good to hear, thank you.
I also miss Vegas a lot. Haven't played much poker over there mind. Can't wait to get back out there though. @Tikay10 how many times have you been?
The mask ruling at the WSOP is that masks must be worn in the Rio WSOP area at all times EXCEPT when seated at the table.
To be permitted to play, all players MUST show proof - & have it validated - that they have been double jabbed. If at any time a player is found to have somehow got round the system they shall be instantly disqualified, with no financial recompense.
How many times have I attended the WSOP? Every year since 2003, when the Final was held at Binions, although of course it was not held last year & I never attended. I've been very fortunate & lucky indeed, most of my trips have been "work" trips (or partly so) for Wm Hill, Poker 425 & then since around 2009 Sky Poker.
I believe @NChanning has been at least 30 times, more maybe, unless my memory is playing tricks, he's been a regular since the late eighties or early nineties. He's like a Las Vegas encyclopaedia, he knows everywhere & everyone out there.
That's an interesting ruling re masks. Although on the whole they seem to be more strict with covid measures than UK. Saying that, i bet it's more relaxed in America outside of the popular WSOP.
Now i am a lot more involved in poker, i'd love to go Vegas during WSOP. Interesting that one of the events was a $500 buy in. I had a feeling they were minimum a couple of k. I bet being around when the 10k main is on is a great experience!
At present there is a very strict Mask Mandate in Las Vegas, they have to be worn indoors at all times with only a few very specific exceptions. In fact there was a "freedom" demonstration in Vegas yesterday which all got a bit nasty, the COVID-deniers & anti-vaxx crew all got a bit excited.
Vegas during the WSOP Main? Best poker experience ever ever. I'd give anything to be there at WSOP Main time again.
Ha, good spot @stokefc
