Who won what, Sunday 17th October - peiratis88 is the star turn

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 171,805

Morning.

Traffic was brisk again last night, with the Major turning in a solid £14,800, the £6k BH breaching the £7k barrier for the first time in 14 weeks, & Sheriff at £2,350 at an 11 week high. Cold weather, lovely jubbly.

In sport, the new Newcastle regime - is that the correct adjective?.... - got off to the worst possible start and were much flattered by the scoreline in a 2-3 home defeat to Spurs. I don't like to see football fans baying for Managers to be sacked - what a horrible thing that is, wishing a man loses his job - but fair to say he's not doing what he is paid to do, so will likely be down the road soon. Ms Staveley was in the Directors Box, brand new black & white scarf fresh out of the wrapping & clothed head to foot in black & white as if she were some lifelong member of the Toon Army. It was quite amusing to observe. Something about Ms Staveley troubles me, not sure what, but I fancy a bumpy road ahead for all concerned.

And in Tennis, the headlines all go with "GB's Norrie wins at Indian Wells". That's Norrie who was born in South Africa, moved to New Zealand when he was 3 & then to England when he was 13. Anyway, whatever flag of convenience he flies, it was a fine result & I hope he goes on to bigger & better things, so we can see loads more "GB Tennis star" headlines.

djsppiros took 7 @ 7. He ran 6th in it recently, so no surprise.

Natnug is really beginning to make his presence felt with recent victories in £1k BH, Turbo, MidEx, Reload (twice) & now adds the valuable£6k BH for close to £1,400. Nice one Nathan.

2nd was Mr Beef, with MattBates in 3rd, showing he can still do it despite advancing years.

    £12,000 Sunday Major (£14,800)

What a battle this was with the chip lead changing repeatedly all evening.

peiratis, who has a stack of decent form, was always prominent & eventually sealed the deal, with addo07 making a late charge into 2nd. addo won a boomlet Major last year for £8,400, and has a great Major record, with a win, two 2nds, a 4th & a 6th.

I really thought skyflyer might win it but ended up having to settle for 3rd, with Sky Poker veteran NIHIGHGUN in 4th.

The eye-opener was meelees6906 in 5th, who seems to be new around here & was playing their first ever Sky Poker MTT. Qualified via satellite too.

Palace Bloke hung in for a long time, went 2nd with 3 tables left, but then presumably met with a misunderstanding & ended up 11th.

craigcu12 was the early chippie, but then got sort of marooned & could not make much progress, eventually finishing 20th. He seems to cash in the Major most weeks.

Plenty of familiar faces made the money, too many to mention, but perhaps the most outstanding performance was by gpc70, who we usually see in Sellers but tried his hand in Group One company last night & finished an excellent 12th. Well done mate.

    £1,500 Mini Major (£1,630)

A week after taking down the £6k BH, obsti took the Mini Major.

Sky Poker very nearly had two more Final Table Jackpot payouts, as craigcu12 (4th) & donkhunta (6th) both ran deep in the Major, with donkhunta missing the Major final by just two spots & craig making the money spots.

Honourable mentions to dazler & MAXALLY who both snuck into the money.

    £1,500 Sheriff Bounty Hunter (£2,350)

peiratis & skyflyer finished 1st & 3rd respectively in the Major, then flip-flopped positions in Sheriff. These two players just keep churning out results & I can't imagine anyone is ever pleased to see them on their tables.

    In other news...

Mr Marmite himself, Phil Hellmuth, won his 16th WSOP Bracelet yesterday.

Like him or loathe him - & few are indifferent to him - it has to be said, still winning bracelets 32 years after his first really is something special. Worth noting he's 57 years old.

If Newcastle fans think Mr Ashley was only motivated by money, they ain't seen nothing yet. I fancy Ms Staveley can match him & more in every department.

Frying pan & fire springs to mind.

This MTT fits my game style far more than any of the others.
Part of it is the fact I can play deep stacked poker for a long time.
