SATURDAY SPORTS BETS

Very little to get excited about today. However, the search for value throws up a double from the Prem and the Scottish Championship. I did ponder having a dabble with the Leeds 13/5 - Arsenal 17/20 game but ahem, you don't know which Arsenal are going to turn up and Leeds surely owe their fans a response after the mid week mauling so best for a spread dabble rather than a win bet.

I had a brief check on the Rugby but with the faves for the 4 games quoted at 1/100, 1/50, 1/4, and 1/3 theres no value at all, even the spreads are slewed massively so we either win small or lose huge. Not for me thank you very much.

Villa @ 4/6 should do the business against Burnley. A few weeks ago punters might have had a case for Burnley but Villa are going well under Gerrard and I expect them to deliver.

Arbroath 8/13 should have too much for a Morton side who will try and shut down the home team who I expect will prove too strong.

So its Villa @ 4/6
Arbroath @ 8/13

$9 double on Stars potential return $24.23

I've also taken a spread in the Leeds v Arsenal game where I've bought the position on Sporting Index for corners X goals 29 - 32 @ 50p per point. This means we want goals and corners and don't give a tinkers about which side gets them, Should the game end goaless or cornerless then our maximum exposure is £16, which is a little more than I like but I can close the position in running so it's not too bad.

Roll on Sunday and the NFL.

I agree with the Arsenal reasoning as they can have completely different performances from one game to the next. But if you think Villa will win then surely it's worth a little bet on the Sky Boost in the hope that the good Arsenal turn up. At 4/1 it seems good value to me and will be backing it.

Well I think the 'Proper Arsenal' turned up in that first half...

Terrible performance by Leeds though. Not even had a corner yet.

The proper Arsenal turned up in the first half but hung on in the second.

ok guys so Arbroath duly obliged as the double became a 8/13 single giving a return of $14.54 on the $9 stake a profit of $5.54

The spread bet should have paid out in view of 5 goals, however the paucity of corners, only 5 in all, and that despite 2 in the opening 3 minutes, gave a final result of 5x5=25.
So on a sell position of 32 we have a loss of 7 points @ 50p per point totalling £3.50.

So with 1 day of the week left both a profit and loss result is still possible.

    Totals so far

    Fixed odds Staked $16 returns $29.53 = + $13.53

    Spreads = - £1.87

    Have a good un

The lack of Leeds corners really killed you there, they really were poor. Plus, with the game safe, Arsenal eased up 2nd half, which played against you too.

Yeah I was a little disappointed with Leeds, normally I could have closed out the position for a smaller loss but kept it open in the hope that a last few minutes flurry from Leeds would yield the 2 corners required to break even or even secure a small profit.

Although backers on cards must have been wondering how there weren't a couple of reds. High and late obviously means red for teams like Stoke, Brentford, Burnley etc but is acceptable for others.
