Afternoon.
MTT numbers were a little less frothy last night, but still decent. Despite the increased guarantees, Gold Rush Main & Mini, & Summit, all covered comfortably. It seems that the decision by James to increase the guarantees was well-timed, though how long they will last remains to be seen.
In sport, the 4th Ashes Test got off to a heavily rain-affected day, with the hosts winning the toss & deciding to bat. They were 126/3 at close of play, & the media described that as England's best day of the Series. Says a lot, that. Broad, returning to the side, took 1-34. There's a weird cricket stat that suggests Broad has better figures when he wears that faintly ridiculous bandana. Cricket statisticians are a special breed, trust me. I do miss Bill Frindle (RIP) though.
Perhaps bigger news was Bangladesh beating New Zealand by 8 wickets. New Zealand are world-ranked #2, Bangladesh #9. Prior to this, New Zealand have won 12 & drawn 3 of their last 15 Tests v Bangladesh. An astonishing result by any standards. Hossain - seen saluting in the 'photo below - had match figures of 7-121.

The history of lundie is roughly half & half MTT's & DYM's, but yesterday he played about 50 DYM's & just three MTT's - including a Freeroll, & ended up winning 7 @ 7. Did very well at the Turbo DYM's yesterday too. Nice to have more than one string to the bow.
Similar story to bigfatfish (4th), who also won the £500 BH that went off half an hour later, then played a shed load of Turbo DYM's. He's a versatile if plump fish.

Natnug just seems to get better & better, winning last night's Main, then running 2nd in Quickdraw. In the last 5 weeks he has won Main, Mini Major, Sheriff (twice), Turbo, Quickdraw & MidEx. Must be close to a full set of Featured MTT's. Bet he's a right pain to play against.

£6,000 Summit Bounty Hunter (£7,400)
Just days after a deep run into 9th in the UKOPS Main, Tessellate floored them all in Summit. Delve into his history & a Summit win is no surprise - in 2020 he achieved the super rare feat of winning the Sunday Major twice in successive weeks. Not many can lay claim to that stat.
4th was SwannLol, another with a vey useful CV, very low volume here but won a UKOPS HR and a BWBH in a 2 week spell in November.
UKOPS HR winner M0RG4N4T0R is an increasing presence in these big events, and he collected close to £4,000 when he won the Day 1 UKOPS Main only last week.

Swog has committed to studying hard & improving his game, & it seems to be bearing fruit already. Took last night's Turbo, won a £300 BH on Saturday & a £500 BH on Monday, so that 3 wins in 4 nights for the combative Swogster.

£1,000 Quickdraw (£1,640)
oioi, Crushy is back. On 30th December he won a UKOPS & Quickdraw, and after being AWOL since he returned last night to take Quickdraw again.
By Quickdraw standards, a real toughie, with Main Event winner Natnug in 2nd, plus TIMBER, roddy & M0RG4N4TOR all vying for the win.
I'll not namecheck the guy who was 3rd as it's near impossible to type, never mind pronounce. Wonder what it means? 9 consonants & no vowels is rarely seen on Countdown. Maybe it's Welsh.

This time last year...
Exactly a year ago Summit went to Nitrogen. Anyone know what happened to him?
The Mini went to @craigcu12, of whom I wrote....
"craigcu12 is completely unpredictable..."
At least I got something right. PS - in poker, it's good to be unpredictable.
