Steve Coogan transforms into disgraced Jimmy Savile as he plays out sexual deviant's campaign of abuse against women in distressing scenes for controversial BBC drama The Reckoning
Coogan, 56, looked eerily like Savile, who died aged 84 in 2011, as he approached a young woman sleeping rough and proceeded to grope her after spotting her while out jogging
Donning an identical replica of one of Savile's famed tracksuits, a young actress clutching a duvet put on an emotional display as she struggled to escape Coogan's grasp
In The Reckoning, Coogan will play Savile at key points throughout his life, starting from his humble beginnings as a pirate radio DJ in his native Leeds
A BBC-led inquiry into his actions found he had molested at least 72 children, some as young as eight, over a four decade campaign of sexual abuse with his first victim in 1959 and his last in 2006
His horrific reign of abuse could be charted 'in the corridors, canteens, staircases and dressing rooms of every BBC premises', their 2016 report found

Steve Coogan transformed into shamed sexual predator Jimmy Savile on Sunday as he filmed distressing scenes for the controversial new drama The Reckoning. Coogan, 56, looked eerily like Saville, who died aged 84 in 2011, as he approached a young woman sleeping rough and proceeded to grope her after spotting her while out jogging.

I know that, at one level, it is newsworthy. On another, it is instructive.

But this sort of thing sickens me. Definitely not watching.

But, of course, it did inspire the timing of Nadine Dorries announcement...

    He was a despicable character.
    A prolific offender.
How did he get away with it so often, and for so long?

Will this BBC drama reveal who knew what & when, and who covered it up, at the BBC.

    OK.

So why do you just want to blame the BBC?
    There was Stoke Mandeville Hospital.
    The organisers of various Marathons
The Prison that allowed him unfettered access to Minors
The £40 million or so he raised for charity, leading to the Paralympic Movement. Leading people to forget that people can both do good and be monsters
The OBE recommended by Heath in 1971, and awarded by the Queen
The Knighthood recommended by Thatcher (a friend) in 1990, and again awarded by the Queen
The Lawyers who, acting for Savile at various times, forced complainants into silence

There are a lot of people who could have done more. With hindsight, should have done more. But that vile scum fooled a lot of people. The vast majority never covered up for him. They believed him.

    Not forgetting the police.

    This gets very tedious.

    This is what you said.

Will this BBC drama reveal who knew what & when, and who covered it up, at the BBC.

I assumed that as you posted this, that you had some facts to back it up.

    I was obviously mistaken, again.

Yes if you read it again, it's a question.
And yes you are very tedious.

The question clearly implies that someone at the BBC covered it up.
    Who was that?

    Better ask John
He was banned by the BBC for asking questions.

    You must be really desperate.
He says in the interview that he would like to make a film of him killing 200 people.
The first person he mentions is Mick Jagger.
He then says he would like to kill Jimmy Saville.
He claims he knows that he is guilty of some seediness.
What conclusion should we draw from this seediness.
I have got it, the BBC should have mounted a full scale investigation.
They clearly should have forced the police to investigate this seediness.
Was he banned for saying he wanted to kill 200 people, or that Jimmy Saville was seedy.
    You are clutching at straws.
He cant actually get the hang of whether what he was saying was liable, or libellous.
You would have to be a fool to take the interview seriously.
