Who won what, Sunday 13th February - Awkward Bloke wins the Sunday Major

Tikay10Tikay10 Member, Administrator, Moderator Posts: 171,805

Morning.

MTT numbers would have been fine were it not for an £1,800 miss by the Major, partly, I suppose, as many players were chasing Day 7 Premier League points on the DYM & cash tables which were lovely & busy.

Sport? In the Waste Management Open at Scottsdale, Arizona, at the Par 3 16th hole, there's a tradition that allows the gallery to be a little more rowdy than is usual in the genteel world of golf. Yesterday, Sam Ryder hit a hole-in-one & the green was bombarded with thousands of beer cans. This might just be the ugliest golf photo you'll ever see & I hope we'll never see anything like it again. This is Tournament Golf, not Darts, American Wrestling or football. Show a bit of class, please. God help us all if they ever try that at Augusta.

    7 at 7 Bounty Hunter (£1,148)

raggy94 took 7 @ 7. Blocked on Sharky, & I don't have a dot of data to help either. Not a great start to today's report.

In 5th was @goldnballz who had an otherwise thin session, though he did win a few fiver Turbo DYM's when he ran short of MTT tables later in the evening.

And here's johnnyy, another winner who is blocked on Sharky, though we do know he's won 7 @ 7 three times in the last year as well as a Predator Main.

In 2nd was @madeyeII who many of you may remember from the days of the TV Shows. A difficult name to pronounce, as the last two letters are not what you think. This was their best cash since running 3rd in a Sunday Major last May.

We've not seen a lot of Danny @itsOver4U for a while, & I believe he's not been running great either. Got great form in the book though, & won three Mains last year - Avenger, Hitman & Gold Rush.

In 5th was Groggy, who has probably never heard of run-bad. Undoubtedly one of the best players on the site, but still finds time to help newbies out on the Forum when they have hand history questions.

At one point last night serbiaaa was top three in both the £6k BH & Sunday Major, eventually fading slightly & finishing 6th here & 8th in the Major.

    £15,000 Sunday Major (£15,000)

An absolutely delicious result here, best of the year for me, as HAYSIE takes the Major. I've no idea how many times he's won this (or it's predecessors), but its certainly at least 6 & might be as many as 10. He gets a lot of abuse because he's awkward to play & does not do what the solvers & charts say he "should". People take that as a negative, but in fact it's the exact opposite. Doing what your opponents least expect - or like - won't ever make you popular but my oh my it makes you awkward to play. And does he care what folks think? Absolutely not. Plays with his own money (never staked), and plays his own game in his own way. I love him to bits, & if he were not so old - he's late seventies - I'd marry him. If he comes to SPT Brighton - & he usually does - he'll be the Billy-No-Mates sitting on his own in the corner. My only problem with him is he does not wear socks. What is that about? Here he is, pictured below, surrounded by all his friends.

Super sports bettor jordz16 was 2nd with Dog Bloke 3rd.

Doooobs was the FT bubble boy after being top 3 for much of the evening, and there were small cashes for the likes of lolufold, Granite89, newdaddy, NIHIGHGUN RUNITSRANN & PRhack.

25th paid nothing, so there was no money for old_rope

    £2,000 Mini Major (£2,000)

Another big score for NIHIGHGUN, winning Mini Major just 9 days after he took down Avenger Main. Was not a long way off the FTJ either, finishing 18th in the Major.

In 3rd was hhammerhea, who won Thursday's Mini. This fella does really well at the low stakes MTT's and seems happy to stay there, though in his only excursion into the big buy-in Sheriff - a bit of a misclick I believe - he won it, & I'm quite sure he'd do well at higher buy-ins if he chose to play them. Personally, I think there's a lot to be said for sticking to stakes you know you can win at. Conventional wisdom says you must move up but I don't buy that at all. Play for fun at stakes you can afford & you'll enjoy your poker much more. There endeth today's sermon, & I shall now dismount gracefully from my exceptionally tall horse.

    £1,000 Mega Stack B/Hunter (£1,300)

Ominous signs that the Jscorgie express it returning to full speed as he took Mega for the 4rh time in 2022.

Spearsy was runner-up with Mr bates in 4th.

In 3rd was HONEYBUSH who has made several FT's recently. I'm not at all sure about that alias, but perhaps that's because I spent too much time working with Richard Orford.

    This day last year

Included this interesting observation. But who was I talking about?

"It's not every week we see a runner in the Sunday Major who had played 20 £0.28 DYM's the same day - now that IS an eclectic buy-in range, from £0.28 DYM's to the £110 Major"
