Leaving aside the politics & worthy cause for a moment, this is a monsta blow for Online Poker;

    It is, the Russian people are the biggest losers in all this. The top man in Russia and his 'cronies' are putting things in place to exclude his people from activities like poker.

    Noted that you say let's look past the politics for the moment. It is a massive blow to the Online Poker world. :(

    It's a huge blow to Online poker for sure.

    I suspect the reason 'Stars did this was due to the economic sanctions. Money can easily flow back & forth between Russia & the rest of the world in online poker, not always legitimately, & the new sanctions mean the 'Stars execs would be breaking the law in allowing it.

    I should add for reasons of balance that 'Stars are in the same ownership as Sky Poker, both being part of the Flutter family. Don't want the Suits locked up, do we?

    Sanctions and law I would suspect, by absolutely no means an expert on the current situation as barely watch the news or lift the papers.

    Played a $5.50 mtt on there last night and the field was down about 20% on pst experience. Although it was interesting to see players from Belarus still active at the tables.
    It was a little tense at one point when 1 found him/her self sandwiched between 2 players from the Ukraine.
    Many players from other countries displaying the Ukranian flag as their player image as well.

    Belarus is, I think, a "hermit" nation and would expect the Belarusians to continue to play.

    True, but supporting Putin with forces and boots on the ground so really should be receiving similar sanctions.

    I thought they would have kept out of it altogether, as I say my knowledge is not the best on this matter.
