I'd heard some Independents in Cornwall were charging £2 per litre for diesel. My local TEXACO (in village) was £1.75 pl for diesel and £1.65 Unleaded, though they had run out of UL !
Sainsburys in Truro was £1.60 per litre for Unleaded / forgotten how much diesel was, 'coz I never need it.
Saw today that the Shell in Broxburn was charging £1.99 for UL and diesel. Absolutely scandalous. My local Asda is 154.9 which seems to be as cheap as you can get these days. I live just across the road from a massive refinery which I've always thought should entitle me to a discount, unfortunately not though.

Yeah, that's just down the road from me, absolute outcry on their community facebook page, has been quite amusing to read some of the anger to be fair! Apparently it's a franchise and the guy who owns it lives down south somewhere, staff getting dogs abuse even though they have nothing to do with setting the prices.
The current price of petrol is nothing short of a con. Lots of talk about price hikes every time barrel price of oil goes up, deafening silence when it goes down.
In 2008, oil prices were roughly the same as they are today for 2 months.
Price then was £1.18 UL/ £1.32 diesel. Average price now? £1.59/1.67 and climbing daily. More than 25% higher.

Thats the thing! Its the staff that get it in the neck as they are customer facing. One reason why its quite unlikely I will ever go back to customer service again.
The facebook community page can be quite funny and ridiculous at times too. One I read was about McColls/RS McColls being in trouble. The page and brief versions "they deserve it as the prices are awful" seemed to be quite a popular opinion. 😬
Its a convenience store so it is more expensive. I have one within 200m of the flat and it was handy, the staff are good and had a few good chats with them through Covid and now the Ukraine situation. It's they guys that are the losers, at least that's the way I see it.
This may be irrelevant, I posted a short article this morning on the Big Squeeze thread, which suggests that there are fears of a fuel shortage, and diesel rationing, from as early as next month.

Car sharing and giving the driver petrol money may be mandatory soon 🙂

here in the Rhyl area prices are diversely different Morrisons £1.58 Asda (Kimnel Bay) £1.60, Sainsburys £1.61 Shell £1.68 Cut Price (St Asaph)£1.67.
That was yesterday, Sunday, of course it could all be totally different this morning.
Possibly, but more likely by the wholesalers.
