SUPERLEAGUE WEEK 6 DONE AND DUSTED WTF

Hi all and after round 5 we are 20/24 with our forecasts. The week 5 roundup can be found at the end of that thread so its onwards and upwards with week 6

WIGAN V CASTLEFORD

What don't you want when you've just thrown away a game you should have won and are struggling to avoid the drop. that's right a trip to a Wigan side still smarting from being nilled by Catalans. Even if Wigan were to be as bad again I can't see Cas improving their error count or penalty count enough to take advantage. I expect a maelstrom to be unleashed on Cas and that will be all she wrote. WIGAN by 16+

CATALANS V HULL K R

Catalans play host to a Hull K R who will travel to Perpignon on the back of a win at Salford. However, the Dragons are in fine form and having already played and beaten Leeds, Warrington and Wigan should have way too much for the visitors. Although I fancy it may be close until the 2nd half Catalans should ease away as the game wears on. CATALANS by 10+

SALFORD V LEEDS

My oh my, this is the coin flip of round 6. Salford who since winning the opening 2 have been dismal against a Leeds team who have just 1 win and are looking bereft of confidence. Normally you'd take a quick glance, mark Leeds down to win and move on but the question has to be is an average Salford side better than a poor Leeds team? Despite everything I'm still going to go for Leeds, the poor form has to end soon and they have Smith and Leeming back from suspension so they should be firing. A not confident LEEDS by 8

WARRINGTON V WAKEFIELD

A little like Cas, Wakefield find themselves up against a "big club" humiliated the previous week and whilst getting trousered by Saints is nothing to be ashamed about it's the manner of defeat that had Warrington's head coach Darryl Powell seething. I think that this could well a ferocious start and that Warrington will in a 20 minute blitz blow Wakefield away. If Wakefield can somehow ride out the initial onslaught then the closing stages are their best bet to sn4tch something. WARRINGTON by 14

TOULOUSE V SAINT HELENS

For all their week on week improvement I still expect Toulouse to be winless after this game as Saints should have too much of everything, everywhere. I would love to find a couple of positives for Toulouse but all I can offer is I'm positive that they will lose. SAINTS by 18

HULL V HUDDERSFIELD

Shame this game isn't on TV as it promises to be a cracker. Hull who dominated Leeds host Huddersfield who sit 2nd in the table and who played a topsy turvy match with Cas last time out 18-0 HT became 18-24 and ended 36-24. This could be a high scorer as both teams value attack over defence and both have a soft underbelly. HUDDERSFIELD by 8-

Ok that concludes it for week 6 preview, slightly shorter today as I'm at the caravan and stuff needs doing. Will add the results round ups and pertinent points on Sunday evening.

WIGAN 32 V CASTLEFORD 22 This went pretty much as expected. Wigan whilst never totally dominating were always comfortable.

CATALANS 18 V HULL KR 10 KR stayed in this right to the end, never out of it but Catalans always had enough.

SALFORD 26 V LEEDS 12 If Leeds aren't worried by this performance they should be. Salford didn't need to be at their best.

WARRINGTON 22 V WAKEFIELD 38 BIG shock here, Wire look to be going backwards whilst Wakey were good. Very good.

TOULOUSE 22 V SAINT HELENS 20 BIGGEST SHOCK for years as Toulouse get their season off the ground in style.

HULL 14 V HUDDERSFIELD 6 This was a good win for a quickly improving Hull, bad day at the office for Huddersfield.

The reviews shows are all going to be about Toulouse and to be fair they deserve all the credit after toppling the previously unbeaten Saints. Whilst it was always going to be a case of when and not if Toulouse got off the mark, this result will have Leeds and Castleford, neither of whom look like they can buy a win at the moment, in panic mode.

Usually teams gaining 6 wins or more over a season can have a reasonable expectation of remaining in Superleague. However, I suspect that 7 or even 8 may be required, especially when you get results like Wakefield winning at Warrington.

ITS CHALLENGE CUP NEXT WEEK SO NO PREVIEW FOR THAT. BACK WITH WEEK 7 about March 29th.

Be Lucky.

So as you can see from the edit above not a good week with only Wigan and Catalans coming in. 22/30 must to better Mark.
