No this is not my cat missing I do not have a cat. At the bus stop today I noticed someone had put up a Missing cat and reward for finding etc with a picture of the cat.
It is not that I do not have sympathy for this it is a beloved pet and I can imagine some young child been inconsolable in tears as they do not see their beloved pet cat for some time etc.
Just what I am wondering is does this really ever yield results.
I can see a few issues with this firstly maybe it just me but I would struggle to tell one similar looking cat from another. So if I saw the cat I would not be 100% sure it was the missing cat or just some other cat.
Further even if I was sure that yes this was the cat what exactly can I do the vast majority of cats are weary of strangers and will not let you get close enough to pick it up and it will run etc.
The only way I can see this yielding a result is if by some strange coincidence the cat is patiently waiting sitting beneath the missing cat sign where I can study it and see yes it is the same cat, at which point I question am I on trigger happy TV?
Am I missing something here do these signs ever get results?

They do work, yes, though not often. I had a cat go missing & stuck up dozens of signs. Madness, I know, but we get really attached to pets.
And no they don't all look alike to their owners. I had a pure white cat with no markings, but stick him in a room full of seemingly identical white cats & I'd spot him in an instant.
As Brits, we get very very attached to our pets, & I don't think that's a bad thing really.
Under the new plans, all keepers must ensure their pet is microchipped before they reach the age of 20 weeks and their contact details stored and kept up to date in a pet microchipping database. Owners found not to have microchipped their cat will have 21 days to have one implanted, or may face a fine of up to £500.4 Dec 2021
All pet cats will have to be microchipped by 2023 under new laws aimed at reuniting lost and stolen animals with their owners.
Attach to the collar and you can track it anywhere in the world.
I have known posters to work, when I was delivering take away I would often see them and always enquired about the animal (usually a cat). I'm happy to say that on several occasions the result was good news.
